checking out of hotel room when on safari

I have booked a safari with J T safaris we are going on 25th September and are staying at Papillon Lagoon Hotel. Info we have received from tour operator states then when we are on safari we have to check out of our room. Does anyone know if this is true as we have paid for the room for the duration of our holiday and we should be able to leave our belongings in the room when we are on safari.

If you book your safari through your tour company that would be the case but as you have booked via JT, you should not have to check out of your room

we booked a safari with a local company and did not have to check out , however those that had booked hotel and safari through the tour company ie first choice/thomson did have to store luggage while on safari

i would phone your tour company and speak to them it may be just a standard letter to safari clients

We stayed at Hemingways in Watamu and when we went on safari we had to in effect check out of the room and put our luggage in an allegedly safe place. The book library closet! Upon our return 3 days later we were given our luggage and returned to the vey room we had left. They must do this for security reasons so it seemed logical.
