skiathos princess hotel on skiathos

Hi

Going to Skiathos and staying at the Skiathos Princess Hotel mid September. Do you have to pay for sunbeds there? Where are best places to eat that don't cost a fortune and are their any boats for boat trips to other beaches nearby?

Thanks

J

The Princess has its own beach with comfy sunbeds free of charge for guests and also a taverna on the beach.

There are endless places to eat locally which are reasonable. As far as I can recall there isn't a taxi boat service for this beach. However, the local bus stops almost outside your hotel so you can go to any beach along the coastal road using this, there is only one bus route and all the stops are numbered so very easy to use. Pick up a free map in the arrivals hall at the airport, bus route, stops, beaches etc are all listed.

Agree with Mrs W, the sunbeds outside the hotel are free if you are staying there. As you come onto the beach, the first 3 rows are for paying visitors. Cost is 8 euro and you get a free drink.

There is no water taxi and the bus stop is number 16. Have a fab time so jealous we got back home on Tuesday :((

We stayed at the hotel in June and had a fantastic time.

As above, sunbeds are free with the hotel. You get a towel card each on arrival which you can exchange for a hotel towel. On the first day we just took our own, but then found we kept getting asked if we were staying at the hotel by the staff, so the hotel towels are kind of the unofficial signal that you're staying there! So I would recommend getting them each day even if you have your own too.

There aren't any boat trips that we saw, but there are water sports from the beach if you're into that sort of thing.

We eat at a fabulous Italian restaurant directly opposite the hotel (across the main road) on the first night, and there looked like 2 or 3 other places that looked good in the vicinity that we didn't have time to try. There is also an excellent supermarket next to the Italian restaurant which we used to pick up a few bits and pieces, particularly bottled water.

Have a great stay!

Plenty of Greek places to eat within a 100 yds. As somebody else said your at bus stop 16 (1 is in town and 26 at the end of the island. No water taxis and plenty of boat trips are available from the old harbour in town. I only hope there is not a wedding party at the hotel while your are there. Last year the music was deafening and went on till sunrise at 5 am. I understand there was another one last week and I seen quite a few complaints on other forum boards. AP is a great resort as it's almost on the centre. Worth hiring a Jeep for a few days to see some of the more secluded beaches on the other coast line.
