3/4-nights stay on Lofoten Islands

I'm a solo traveller and will arrive Leknes on Aug 28. As I can't drive, I'm reliant on public transports. I'm planning to stay for 3 nights in Å and go sight-seeing or any local tours. I hope I can walk around Reine and also some short hiking or any activities. Is there any existing organized tours or easy routes? Is 3 nights stay adequate for me? After staying on Lofoten, I'll go back to Bodo through Moskenes ferry.

Thanks for your advice!

You would do much better to stay in Leknes. It's not a very attractive town but wonderful surroundings and it is is a hub for public transport in Lofoten. You would be able to see and do a lot more on day trips out from there, rather than being in A at the very end of the Lofoten Islands with very limited bus connections.

Yes. That would give you a real Lofoten experience and still quite good for transport as there are local buses into Leknes. You might consider hiring a bike.

For planning your bus tours in Lofoten you can easy use the route planner on http://www.177nordland.no

And please don't forget to stay up in the night from 10 pm to 2 am, when it's darkness, so you maybe will see the Northern lights dancing over the sky..;)

Finally I've decided to accommodate in A because I want to stick to those destinations in the south-east region. I don't think I can tolerate 3.5 hr of bus time for 4 consecutive days.

Hey Gunnar, I don't expect too much on viewing the first Northern Light in my life. Still, I hope I can grasp the luck. Is there any chance of viewing it outside arctic circle as I'll heading to southern regions of Norway in the beginning of Sept.

Sometimes, when it`s a great show then you can see the activities further south too... like at February 19th last winter, they could see her dance south to Berlin..;)

Please follow the real time activity on - http://tinyurl.com/7zjpm3k
