Fishing Questions - End of June Staying at Infinity Bay

We love to fish and were able to do some really great night fishing off of a resort dock in San Pedro, Belize last year. Does anyone know (for sure) if fishing is allowed off of the dock at Infinity Bay? Also, how is the general fishing in West Bay? We will get a guide, but wonder what to expect in regard to what kinds of fish one hopes to catch, any leads on guides, shore fishing in the area and bait shops in the area?

This is our first time to Roatan - going with the our two teenagers (19 and 15).

Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I have not seen anyone fishing inside of the reef in West Bay except security guards hand-line fishing. There are no long docks so you would have to cast out from sand onto reef. Then if you hook something, youre fighting fish, dark AND reef. During the day it is too crowded with snorklers and divers to have much success.

However, the beach between West End West Bay could offer more opportunities. Not sure if I would recommend night fishing that stretch.

Sandy bay has some great flats. If you get take a Cab to the beach side of Blue Bahia, you get great access. As well, you could try and get access over the hill in West Bay past Infinity Bay. It is not sandy beach, but you wont have to worry about all the people.

There is flats fishing, off reef fishing and deep sea fishing. You can catch everything from boxers, bar fish, trumpet fish, barracuda, bone fish, permit, tuna, mahimahi, wahoo, and sailfish (if you go deep sea fishing).

There arent really fishing guides like you see in Belize, there are a couple of flyfishing guides and lots of offreef fishing captains. Depends on what type of fishing you want to do, you should be able to find what you want on roatan.
