5 nights in Andora - near Alassio (not Andorra) - or not?

We have won five nights b&b in Savona - hooray!

We asked for Alassio, or Finale Ligure. The Chamber of Commerce tell us that the ONLY possibility for our 5 nights b&b (8-13 September 08) is the Hotel Garden, Andora. http://www.albergogarden.it/

The only things we can find out about this hotel are not very promising - beds only 1.90 - I am 1.93, on a main road, small rooms, mediocre breakfast.

Should we tell them to stick their prize - or should we accept graciously? Can anyone advise us? We usually home exchange for holidays - so perhaps we are too fussy? Are the beaches free here does anyone know?

Many thanks

I only just saw your message and wondered if you actually accepted?? We actually live in London in the winter and spend most of the summer in Andora where we have a house slightly inland. We've obviously never stayed in the 'Hotel Garden' and while Andora is nothing special, as it's a fairly modern town, it's a great base for touring the Italian Riviera. Laigueglia and Alassio are cute historic towns just 5 and 10 minutes away plus San Remo and Bordighera further west etc. There are fascinating mediaeval villages inland and the weather is pretty good all year. It's the 27th September and is almost 30 degrees today and we've been here since June and had about 5 days of rain (all of which were in one week!)

Hope this helps someone else if not yourselves as there' so little information on the web about this area...
