West coast near Paynes Bay in August

Hi all, we will be first timers in Barbados (family of 4 with 2 teenage children) and are looking for ideas on an itinerary. We are staying at the Beachview apartments for 8 nights and will hire a car as we did not want to be limited to an all inclusive.

Our bucket list includes; catamaran cruise, dive, Cliff restaurant, car hire...

All thoughts, tips and advice very much appreciated.

When you have your hire car go to the east coast and visit Bathsheba. I also recommend a drive up to North Point/Animal flower cave for stunning views. A visit to St Nicholas Abbey would be high on my list too. Try out some south coast beaches such as Miami, Crane, Bottom Bay, Dover, Rockley too. Go to Oistins on Friday evening for the fish fry. There are some other ideas in the what to do section of this forum.

For things to do in Barbados:

Visit Harrison's Cave

Visit Hunte's Gardens

Take a dive on the Atlantis Submarine

Visit the Barbados Wildlife Reserve

Visit St Nicholas Abbey and sample some of their legendary rum and tour the historic house

Take a Catamaran Cruise on Cool Runnings

Visit the Barbados Concorde Experience

Take a 4x4 Adventureland Island Tour

Visit Cherry Tree Hill for breath-taking views of the island

Visit Hackleton's Cliff for breath-taking views of the island

Visit St. John's Parish Church

Gun Hill Signal Station is also fantastic

Visit Oistins on a Friday night around 19:00, have dinner at Pat's Place, the dishes are delightful.

If you're into history, visit Sunbury Great House, also a great place for having lunch

For shopping, visit the world-class Limegrove Lifestyle Centre in Holetown, St. James where you can shop at Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren just to name a few.

Do take a look at www.totallybarbados.com where you will find a wealth of quality and up-to-date information on the island.

Luckily for you, The Cliff is a 5 min walk away from Beach View!

BGI, thank you so much for the ideas. Will definitely take a good look.

Any suggestions on the best value restaurants for lunh nd / or evenings out in Holetown with the family. I don't think I can afford the Cliff every night :-)

Thanks
