“Flight left Sydney on time. ”
Review of Virgin Australia

Reviewed 22 November 2017 via mobile

The aircraft was a Boeing 737 800 with old style seats that didn't have foot rests or device charging jacks.

The staff were efficient and friendly and there were only three of us in business class. Despite this, when we asked if we could have some bread and cheese as we didn't want the meals offered, we were told that there was only one bread roll left. We had cheese and crackers.

Service is what the airline industry is all about. Unfortunately Virgin's cuts have resulted in a subliminal service. no blankets, no pillows and no decent meal service. Qantas provide a full meal service, pillows and blankets. Virgin must lift its game if it wants to consider itself a full service airline.

The plane was late leaving Adelaide, but caught up in the air. Again in Economy+ section of the aircraft and again full. Food or "snack" a cookie and a drink... very basic. They really need to work on this? The virgin service is getting better, but you get one flight attendant who think they are better than dealing with passengers. Overall, Virgin is better than Qantas!

We flew over to Adelaide on Virgin Australia in Economy+ and what a experience. Their service levels have changed from basic to excellent in half of a year since our last flight with them. The only thing is the food or "snack" they should be more like Virgin America in this department. Virgin America's economy+ was more pick what ever you want off the menu. The Economy+ product seems to be a winner with a full section. Great legroom for a 1hr flight. Smooth landing at ADL. Overall: Better than Qantas!

Flew VA1 to LAX in economy X. Nice extra legroom if not a little pricey. Food was inedible rubbish and what happened to a simple tray? You get a foil tray of slop and a cardboard box for the other stuff. Left 2 hours late with no communication.

Coming back it got worse! Food was more inedible and service was so absent I think the staff were invisible. I asked for two drinks with the meal service to be told that wasn’t allowed. I said that was interesting because it was two weeks earlier! Woke up half way home and went in search of a soft drink only to be informed that the plane had been drunk dry. I asked completely dry, business, PE, nothing, that’s right. So imagine my surprise when I popped my head into the PE cabin to find their fridge full of the stuff. VA staff if you are going to blatantly lie to your customers at least make it plausible!

My impression was that they are trying to compete more evenly with Delta by just being crap. I’ve already boycotted QF after a bad experience last year to the UK. Maybe it’s time to revisit United on the 787 Dreamliner. At least that would have the added benefit of avoiding the 3rd world airport that is LAX!

Frankly VA you need to lift your game. Being mediocre is just not good enough...
