“No meals provided”
Review of Air Canada

Reviewed 13 December 2017 via mobile

Recently took Air Canada flight to San Francisco. It took 5.5 hours for a direct flight but no meals provided. You also need to pay C$25.00 for each checked luggage. Really don't understand how they decide when will meals provided.

The counter staff on all legs of this flight were, as a group, inattentive. They seemed uninterested in (incapable of?) coping with the jumble of passengers that resulted from canceled flights. I spent three days in Toronto waiting for a flight home. It was as if customer service was a phrase not in their lexicon. Awful experience. Immigration and customs in all three countries (Canada, US, Israel) were more efficient and friendly. Can sum up review of this airline in three words: Don't, don't, don't.

I went to Cuba on September 2017 and it was the first time I travelled with Air Canada. The first thing I noticed was their remarkable service. The staff was friendly and concerned about their clients. The seats were comfortable and the leg room was satisfactory. As for the luggage claim, I was really impressed. I am very happy with Air Canada and will make it my number one choice of airline company.

Supposedly flying home after an excellent holiday in North America we instead sat in Toronto Airport for over 12 hours. On arrival we discovered the flight had been delayed by 6 hours because of a mechanical issue. In the end we were left in an empty airport until after 04.00 in the morning, departing many hours after the 'supposed' Help Desk had gone home. We received little information and no support, though we eventually, after much queuing, were given some free food. At one point two flights to Heathrow were called to the same gate and they then boarded the passengers who were due to fly 4 hours after us. We were offered no compensation.

We brought premium economy seats because we are not little ( I'm 185 cm / 6 foot 1 inch) and the thought of long flight in tight confines was going to be a challenge. Lucky for us the promised extra little bit of leg room and slightly wider seats came true. The rest of the flight experience however was the unexpected challenge.

Whilst we did not expect luxury, we could at least expect some sort of basic service and food provided. For the entire 15 hour flight (BOTH WAYS) we were provided with one bottle of water at the start and 2 small cups of water the rest of the time. Food was sparce to the extent a cold bun with ham was the biggest meal. There was a continuous "we're so busy right now" response to any request for water, (ok coffee and tea was not provided due to turbulence but only offered then cancelled (BOTH WAYS) due to this once) and any other food or drink requests fell on deaf ears. We are not regular O/S travellers but we have received more water/drinks and food on a 5 hour flight to Perth , in fact more on a 3 hour flight to Melbourne. On such a long flight with border controls meaning you cannot take anything on the plane with you ( fair enough) someone should tell Air Canada to expect people to ask for something more than snacks and dirty looks if you ask for more than 1 bottle of water allocated to you. Several people I know have had the same recent experience travelling on Air Canada and really if they don't improve this area of customer service they might as well call themselves Air Camel as no one else would puit up with such tight water and food restrictions for 15 hours
