Review of Air New Zealand

Arrived at Newark airport and went to lounge as we had several hours to wait. Refused entry even though we had paid business class fares. Reasons were because we were not gold members of Star Alliance we were only silver. Air New Zealand it took me quite a while to come back to you, you have failed again, what happened to the best airline in the world status, down the tubes as far as I’m concerned. Do you advertise this fact for your flyers?? We were tired and hungry and the lounge was really inviting to us, really disappointed in you. Flyers be sure you get the facts before you leave NZ may save you some embarrassment . Is this the case in other countries with star alliance ? You need to advise your customers.

Flew first flight from AKL to SYD, seat width was very tight compare to 777. Staff was friendly and kids got toys.

Negative: small food portions, reserved sky couch but flight staff didn’t get information
Positive: spacious and comfortable seats, friendly staff, clean and above average size toilets.

This was my first experience flying Air New Zealand and I can now understand why they have been voted one of the best airlines to fly. Flying premium economy obviously gave more comfortable seats, but the rest of the service was not related to this. Everything else was as you would want it: easy check-in; all the staff are very pleasant and helpful - both check-in and flight; food and movie experience were enjoyable; luggage came off as it should. Also, I had phone contact with their main office before the flight and that was a good experience.

Great flight, early morning one but no delays, organised, easy flight and love the screens on the back of the seats - so necessary for a long flight. Didn't have a meal but a few treats and loved the ability to say hello to someone in another seat - such fun.
