A Tuesday 5:00 a.m. departure meant waiting a while for security to open and an easy departure from a normally very busy airport. The newer Airbus had great leg room and large overhead compartments. The Plane was on time (happily) as the time to our commuter to LYH was 50 min. later and a very long walk. Lynchburg airport has a lovely small airport with good service and small wait times. The grandchildren visit was wonderful and providence smiled on our return trip. We gave up our 2 seats on the commuter to Charlotte, got two generous vouchers toward AA flights, provided a taxi ride to Roanoke airport to get to Charlotte, and we arrived in PHX 2.5 hrs earlier than our original flight was schedluled. Good service all around.

We usually fly Alaska so I wasn't prepared for how unprofessional an airline can be. We had on this trip: Late departure, failure to allow connector flight people off the plane first as promised, super slow stowed carry-on luggage retrieval, No grace to allow for late connector arrivals (the connector flight was still there but they wouuldnt let us on). Terrible resolution to problem of missed flight ( they booked us for a new flight that would make us a day late for our conference).
The new flight we booked to get us near our destination had no lavatory. The rental car we had to rent due to having to land over 100 miles from our destination was not paid for by AA.
Returning flight was late and was out of most food choices before they hit the third row. They apologized of course and explained the we're under stocked?.......no kidding!!

We had the pleasure of having Alfonso as our flight attendant. Not only once, but on our return flight as well. He remembered us, and our drink of choice. Alfonso has a wonderful personality and is very attentive. There should be an Alfonso on every flight, he really is an asset to AA.

I arrived at Logan Airport two hours before my flight, paid $25 to check my single bag, and that was the last anyone heard of it.

I spent countless hours on hold and speaking to agents throughout the following week, and was told that their internal tracking and communications systems were malfunctioning or down.

They had an incorrect description for the bag in their system, despite my countless conversations with agents. I was told that my accurate description given to the agents probably didn't save because of their IT issues.

They have been rude, dismissive on the phone, and have made no real effort to locate this bag. As it stands currently, they still have no idea where in the world it might be.

Imagine you go on a three week trip, part business, part vacation. For me, that bag weighed about 40 pounds. So pack that bag with 40 pounds of your favorite things, and throw it in the trash. Thanks American Airlines!

I rarely fly AA and won't be switching allegiance after my recent experience with this airline. When traveling with a baby the devil is in the details and American was of little help during this trip. We were not able to preselect seats without paying a fee so we were unsure until arriving at the gate if we would be seated together. Once you do get your seat assignment the airline does not allow families traveling with babies to preboard, which seems an inconvenience for other passengers as well as we quickly hurried to collapse the stroller and then attempted to board a packed plane with a tired baby (and mom!), diaper bag, etc. It also seems like an airline should know that an annual event, like the Chicago Air and Water Show, would impact their flight patterns and plan accordingly. We received a text message announcing a thirty minute delayed departure (no problem) but then upon arriving at the gate were informed that our departure would be further delayed and eventually we took off two hours later than scheduled. Once we were at the gate there was little attempt at communicating the updates to the passengers. The flight attendants were very nice and the in flight entertainment system was great but I will continue to avoid this airline whenever possible.
