“The Dreamliner Sleeps like a Dream”
Review of American Airlines

Reviewed 22 May 2017

Recently, I had the pleasure of flying on the Dreamliner during a flight from London Heathrow to Chicago O'Hare. The Dreamliner "lie flat" seats were wonderfully comfortable and are far superior to the "angled" business class seats that I experienced on previous American Airline international flights. The seats on the previous flights were remarkably uncomfortable.

As to other aspects of the flight, the food was very tasty and the flight attendants were friendly and attentive. I was also very pleased with the quality and variety of the entertainment options.

This is a general overall review of our entire trip. AA Citi card is worthless. You can not use your points for anything relevant. I do not get anything they promised by signing up for the card. Now, they will tell me it is because I was not on a domestic flight. Free Bag, Group 1 boarding are all garbage. my problem with this company is that they offer these things on the International flights. Why would you offer something that isn't relevant to the flight you are on. Called them 4 times before our flight to use the points i have for anything, upgraded seats, transfers... You can't do that. The flight crews on the international flights are rude and ignorant. Just horrible. I thought after 4 flights on this airline I had something special. JetBlue, you'll be receiving our business from now on.

This must have been one of their smaller jets. I believe it was model E-175 or something like that. The flight attendants were very nice and helpful (I'm handicapped). The seats were very cramped, I could not recline without hurting the person behind me. My legs were pressed up against the seat in front of me, very tight. Otherwise, everything else was good, took off on time and arrived on time, good flight.

Although not one of the best, AA is quite okay to be flown on that off chance. Truth be told if you are used to flying SE Asian or Middle Eastern Airlines, European and American carriers will dissappoint but AA is something I can still live with. The boarding process was pretty smooth. They made no hue and cry even though I had a 60L backpack and it was a full flight. The entertainment selection was beyond compare. I have never seen so many movies and TV shows on a flight screen on offer ever. The food was not too bad and the flight as such was okay. The only thing that really ticked me off about this particular flight was that once all the food and beverages were served and it was time for some shut eyes, I used the attendent call button and saw the light come up above my head, but no one, absolutely no one, ever answered. The light stayed there for over half an hour after which I hopelessly turned it off and had to go to the pantry area for my needs. Overall AA has been pretty neutral for me in terms of their international offering however I must warn, they are absolutely notorious in domestic.

We were set to leave our amazing Disney trip at 11:05 AM to fly home, made it to the airport at around 9 am and made it through security and onto the plane only to have our flight delayed until 11:45...and then 12...and then we were asked to deboard because one of the propellers wasn't working. We were told we would hopefully leave by 2 PM and one of the gate workers was nice enough to get our stroller off the plane for us since we had a very tired 2 year old with us. I believe his name was Edgar and he was amazing at handling our situation as best he could. We were then told our flight was delayed until 5 PM, followed by 8:40. We were told that we would be getting a new plane in at 8:40 and all would be well, but that was later changed to 9 since they had fixed our original plane but then had to wait for a new flight crew. We were given no compassion or empathy during our 12 hour ordeal and were given a $12 food voucher for our trouble. I understand that the gate workers were just doing their job but making people wait 12 hours in an airport was unacceptable! There were people with infants for God sake's. We were given false promises and loads of bullcrap. No one seemed to have a direct answer to give us. I will never fly with American Airlines again. We finally boarded the plane at 9:15 pm and landed in Philly at 11:45 pm. My family finally made it home at 1 AM, a full 12 hours after I was supposed to be home.
