So, I wasn’t aware of this, but apparently, there are “retro” planes, perfectly preserved from the 1980’s, still flying for American - for example the MD-80 that recently took me from DFW to MCI. The staff was outstanding. The plane itself was a hot mess. No outlets (cigarette lighter sockets only) - in 1st class. Aging seats with upholstery from another era. Adequa-te leg room, but narrow seat (my butt wasn’t wide the day before in coach...)

I don’t know what to say. It’s usually worth a little more to me to fly first class, but in this case, it’s probably worth a little more to fly a different airline altogether. Delta, and United have always had a good first class experience. This is my third and last time doing it with American. They’re more interested in signing you up for their credit card, than providing a good travel experience.

The flight was good, non-eventful. But the thing that annoyed me... We paid for upgrade to Business Class which included more leg room and unlimited beer and wine. We did get more leg room. But was offered any beer or wine. Not that I'm a lush. But...

I flew via a B777-300 in business class (4A) and had a great flight. My seat was a lie flat seat located in a small cabin with only 8 seats (directly behind first class and in front of the business class mid-galley). The entertainment system was top notch and offered at least 25 to 30 newly released movies (with Boise headsets). The meal was pretty good (pankoed prawns), followed by AA signature desert: ice cream sundaes with choice of sauces, nuts and whipped cream. The crew was very friendly throughout the flight. I had a very enjoyable trip.

Lost luggage, huge delayed flights. Changed gates last minute, AA staff was not helpful finding correct gate, then was told that the flight left already. (It didn’t actually leave for another 4hrs). Then mechanical problems, had to switch planes. Lost half of the first day of our honeymoon. My new wife was in tears. By the time we got there it was bed time.

My flight was on a B777-200 in a business class seat (5L) and it was a delight. The crew was very nice, professional and courteous throughout the flight. The entertainment system, with Boise headsets) was quite good and offered 25 - 30 newly released movies. The seats are lay flat seats with very nice blanket and oversized pillow. The food overall was pretty good; however the most enjoyable part of the meal service was AA signature desert: ice cream sundaes with choice of hot sauces, nuts and cream - it was wonderful. Overall, it was a very enjoyable flight.
