Our experience with this airline was a nightmare! Our flight was diverted from SFO to Wuhan Airport instead of landing to Guangzhou aiport first. Understandably there was a typhoon however no announcement was ever made by the crew of the diversion nor the bad weather. It was all assumed that passengers know what was going on. Stayed in that airport for about two hours in a secluded room, and no airline personnel was even explaining what was going on. Communication in english was hard as well. When we finally arrived in Guangzhou same thing the Airline crew did not tell us where to go for all the passengers that were catching an international flight. We were literally running around to know where we are supposed to go.
Finally we arrived in Phuket and our nightmare did not end there. None of our luggages arrived. Luggages arrived the following day however one was still missing. When you communicate with the airlines they were not very helpful but was forwarding you to another team. Ended up that the Luggage was found two weeks later with the lock broken and we ended up losing some items.
Just imagine starting a vacation with all these experience. The inconvenience and the stress that has been experienced was more than we have expected. So if you do not want your vacation to be ruined do not use this airline no matter how economical their fares would be. You would rather pay expensive tickets rather than ruin your vacation !

I traveled on China Southern Airlines from Dubai to Dalian via Guangzhou and my checked in baggage has been delayed. I hope it is not lost. The irony of the matter is that I had checked in two pieces of baggage from Dubai to Dalian. One checked in baggage arrived safely in Dalian and another one went missing. I simply don't understand how. I am waiting and praying for the status to change from 'Still tracing' to 'Already found'. It is more than 24 hours now and I have called the airline helpline twice and they say they have no idea where the checked in baggage might be.

“Inflight experience OK -- LOST LUGGGAGE A REAL BUMMER. Holiday destroyed.”

Flight out of Melbourne was delayed and luggage not transhipped in Guangzhou. It has disappeared into the maw of god alone knows what. 39 kilos of travelling gear and gifts gone as if they never existed. We head for home tomorrow -- sans luggage exxcept for carry on. Thanks China Southern.

“Delays and mediocre service!”

Not a very pleasant experience, due to delays. Flight was already scheduled for a miserable departure time, but then delayed by nearly two hours. Meant that I arrived in Bangkok at 3:00 am with almost no sleep for the night. The service was inadequate for an international flight, with poor quality meal and inattentive flight staff. 737-800 is OK for short domestic flights, but not very comfortable for longer international flights.

“They got me there!”

Nothing fancy, but the flight left on time and service was OK. 737-800 was fine for short flight. Flight attendants friendly.... in a Chinese sort of way.
