“Old loud plane #Deltamakingusdeaf loud”
Review of Delta Air Lines

Reviewed 24 May 2017

Be prepared - bring earplugs if you are flying Delta between Detroit and Minneapolis. Delta flies a VERY LOUD plane (MD88 model) - #deltamakingusdeaf loud. Because we flew basic economy, we were of course seated at back of plane. Decibels had to be 90+ the entire trip. I asked flight attendants for ear plugs - they didn't have any, and one attendant said he tries to never fly on MD88 planes. If I had to do it over again - I'd fly Southwest, United, anyone else - or even drive instead.

Found a great deal on first class return tickets on Delta from Winnipeg to Hawaii and may not look back. Flying FC gives access to 2 checked bags free, movies/food/dedicated service so paying an extra 1200.CAD total for 2 return tickets was almost a no brainer. MSP to HNL was on a 777 with the lie flat beds, really scared my wife will expect this all the time! This option would probably be better on a return flight to catch up on sleep but the bigger seats, excellent food offerings, entertainment made our first FC venture something to remember for a long time.

We flew first class with vouchers obtained when Delta bumped us from a flight last year. In first class, you have lots more leg room and larger more comfortable seats. You get to check two bags free. Checked bags receive special handling so they are first off the aircraft and appear quickly at baggage claim. You receive priority boarding and upon arriving at your seat, you find a small bottle of water waiting for you. You also depart the aircraft first. Beverages are served in glassware. You get your choice of snacks. Inbound and outbound flights arrived ahead of schedule. If you can afford it, first class is the way to go.

First and foremost - you don't purchase a 1st class ticket for the service, its for the space you park your bottom in for a six hour flight. Overall I will say that the service is not "bad", not Singapore Airlines level of quality, however not bad..

So the greatest value in 1st class is the space/seating!!!!!!!!
