Having experienced business class on Qatar Airways from LAX to DOH, I was expecting a similarly excellent experience on my Etihad flight from AUH to LHR. I was sorely disappointed. Cabin staff, while efficient, were unmotivated. Food service was, again, efficient, but meals were forgettable. Cabin temperature ran from slightly warm to almost uncomfortable (why airline cabins are so warm when passengers are given blankets is beyond me). Perhaps my biggest criticism is that the lavatories were a disaster shortly after first use. For an airline headquartered in a culture that requires much water in connection with personal hygiene, there does not seem to be any designated staff responsible for doing maintenance in the lavatories - which differs markedly from superior airlines like Qatar that recognizes the need for that.
