Review of Fiji Airways

Fiji Airways was our only choice for the relatively short flight from Lautoka, Fiji to Nuku'alofa, Tonga, and we didn't know what to expect. To our delight, the small plane had the best lumbar support and most comfortable seats I ever remember sitting in on an airplane. Our standard seat had as much leg room as most exit row seats on planes in the USA, and the Australian wine poured with dinner was first rate.

I literally booked on the fly and when I had trouble with a slow Internet connection, I called them. The agent could not have been more helpful, and within minutes I had two seats reserved for the next day.

One tip for anyone flying out of Fiji ─ they absolutely insist any fluids in your carry-on be placed in a one-quart ziploc bag. These bags are sold for $1 in the conveniently located pre-security gift shop in Nadi. It may be a gimmick to raise lots of dollars, but you won't get through without one.

A few days later we learned that our son and his wife had chosen Fiji Airways for a trip from from San Francisco to Christchurch, NZ last year, and they also applauded the comfort and quality of their flight. What fun to learn that they share memories of the cozy new Nadi airport in Fiji where they had a layover.

All four of us urge anyone flying the southern skies to take Fiji Airways if it's an option, especially if you can fly on a Fiji Airways plane rather than a partnering one.

Fiji Airways lost my luggage beginning of January and needed several weeks to admit that they couldn't find it. (btw it was a direct flight!) After 7 emails and 15 calls they offered to pay for a third of the value of the lost items. The flight was OK but everything since then was awful, including a claims department that aims to wait out customers and pay as little as possible. How can you completely loose a bag on a direct flight?

Flight was delayed 3.5 hours due TC Keni, whilst this was no ones fault would of been nice to get a message or email out save us getting to airport so early, but enough about that, ground staff and check in process was great, offered meal vouchers due delay, so yah for that, Flight was ok, we checked in online and gave ourselves spare seats and due light load we kept that space, now leg room is tight, so be ready for that, NO IFE which is bad as had to try and watch move from drop down screens, hmmm enough said about that, food was ok, only one drinks run on a 5 hour flight, but have to say crew on board were very friendly, and having a direct flight ex WLG is amazing, overall average review for my experience,

Chose Fiji Airways because the cheapest fares also include check-in baggage and food. The flight as such was OK. Nothing great nor anything much to complain about. They are no match for other carriers like Air New Zealand or Singapore Airlines. For a 3 hour flight, I would recommend them.

we actually flew from HNL to Samoa, then to Fiji and from Fiji to LAX. The Fiji Air staff at the airports were very accommodating. Everything was on time and the planes were clean. Flight crew was pleasant and the food was even decent for airplane food. I would fly with them again w/o hesitation
