A 2 hours and 50 minutes quiet and calm morning flight to Iceland. Standard service - no surprises - landed on schedule.

SAS is not an exceptional carrier, but it is an OK carrier. You know what you get. They usually carries passengers that are more cultivated than their Norwegian competitor, The departure became delayed because of a labour conflicts in the French air traffic controlling, but the crew gave full speed and managed to pick up 15 minutes - well done.

On this occasion we flew in SAS new business class product to Chicago. While the hard product is quite pleasing, very nice seating and bedding although a bit tight, the service is abysmal. Very rude cabin personal, seemingly annoyed to be there. Food ok. The reason we chose SAS this time was because of direct flight to Chicago, would not choose again, rather deal with layovers.

3 flights with sas in one week (star alliance gold status):
1) First flight cancelled. Never informed of reason why; rebooked on a flight which made me arrive in my hotel on 01 a.m.
2) Third flight:
- no aditional luggage anymore on their worst tickets
- no access to fasttrack
- sas lobby overcrowded and closed for entry
- crew lost (?!) and flight delayed
With this kind of service and complete amateurism the added value compared to low cost carriers is 0.0.

This was our first time on SAS, and it was only due to the fact that it was a partner airline to our main booked Lufthansa flight that would take us back to Boston. So having Lufthansa for all legs, but for Bergen to Copenhagen, we ended up on SAS. Honestly it was neither outstanding or terrible. It was a very small plane that comfortably got us to Copenhagen, about 20 minutes late, due to coming in late to Bergen. This airline also overbooked the flight and kicked a family of 4 off at last minute (after asking for volunteers to give up their seats). Unfortunately, about 1/2 the plane was made up of cruise passengers from the Viking Sun in Bergen. Viking had booked their passengers using their air partnerships with SAS, so it turns out that a local family of 4 was turned away (btw...there were 3 open seats on the plane). That's a SAS issue for certain, and no airline should EVER ALLOW OVERBOOKING! No, ifs, ands, and buts. If you are ticketed, you should get on! That tells me a lot about an airlines philosophy regarding customer satisfaction. So, I'm not sure I would ever book direct with SAS, but for this leg, there was no issue and we made our destination with no issues.
