This was my second year in Val Cenis, and I returned because it was nice and familial: quiet, ease of lift access, kind people, creche next to several hotels, medium size ski area, cheap lift pass, etc.
I am probably one of very few English visitors to this hotel, as it is run by a sort of cheapo version of Club Med in France and doesn't attract many UK guests. It should though, imho, because most staff spoke some English and the price is good + we saw some other UK people staying there.
The deal is full-board, so you can even come back to the hotel for a lunch buffet. Each buffet offers about 3 choices of mains, with a sort of salad bar, and some fridges holding various cheeses and desserts.
The level of the food: It's not bad, considering what you pay. Some evenings it was pretty good, never outstanding but filling, healthy-ish, and varying throughout the week. The Sat night offers Savoyarde fayre (which is nice touch), and each other night is themed generally. The Italian evening I have to say was lamentable - absolutely awful. The worst lasagne i've ever had, burnt Eggplant gratin - truly terrible. But otherwise, all pretty good, and filling - which is important in the snow.
Room: We were bizarrely offered a room on the top floor with a mezzanine (including stair at 60 degrees!) for us (we were with a 9-month old and a 2 year-old). One slip down that stair and my daughter would've been a vegetable - so we declined and took the room next to the resto, which was perfect really as babyphone worked and distance back to change a nappy etc was short! Watch your room spec, if you book with kids.
Location: 50m from the ESF, 50m from the creche, 150m from the lifts/pass office, 500m from the Beaufort cheese farm. All good!
Staff: Were all very nice and helpful, and put on a show every night.
I would go again, and indeed would think about trying another of MMV's resorts in France.
