We had a wonderful overnight stay in The Bull's Indigo room last night - with a fabulous meal in the restaurant - we cannot recommend The Bull highly enough. After a warm welcome with a cold beer in the bar - we made our way to our room which felt really private, with a dinner-plate sized drench shower head in the wet shower room, delicious crisp white bed linen and lots and lots of pillows and cushions on a massive king plus bed, a choice of DVD movies to enjoy on the flat screen telly and lots of other little touches, we felt very well treated. Dinner was fabulous (the duck starter is one I am going to have to try and replicate) and was served with personal, but in no way intrusive, service.

Breakfast was a delight – as was the lovely Irish lady that kept the coffee coming without prompting.

£200 (including far too much booze) was a wonderful antidote to a seriously stressful couple of weeks for a seriously stressed-out couple. We will be back. Thank you xxx

Either previous reviewers were unlucky or The Bull had responded - the food was delicious and, in my view, very generously portioned. Excellent quality, no complaints. Breakfast was also very well done, a good buffet selection, nicely presented and a great range of cooked-to- order hot dishes.
It would have got a 5 but the rooms were a little tired, with the bathrooms needing a bit of a repaint, but very comfortable and well appointed (good bathrobes, comp chocs and water - very nice touches). Lovely little village too.
We'll be back.

I have visited The Bull a couple of times with friends and unfortunately, on both occasions the meal was disappointing. The portion sizes are very small - my friend had the gnocchi dish and there were only 8 pieces of gnocchi on the plate with several tomatoes. A couple of us had the steak which was small and extremely tough to eat and not very tasty. The meals are also very overpriced.

It is such a shame as the pub itself is lovely and we love the atmosphere. It is fine to just go for a drink, I just wouldn't recommend eating there. I haven't tried the accommodation and so can't comment on this.

Great pub, welcoming (and efficient) staff, good food and a really interesting bedroom (Indigo). The electric fan in our room was a nice touch during the hot weather, and the powerful shower really hit the spot after having spent the day at Goodwood Festival of Speed. I wish we had been staying for more than 1 night, as the village is in a lovely spot for the Downs and some steep walks.

The room was perfect. It was beautifully put together; gigantic, very comfortable bed, interesting "distressed" beside tables. It was a real luxury to have a sofa too. The bathroom was big, modern and well designed with a large, powerful shower. It passed the "towel test" too - large, thick, and soft with the added extra of fluffy dressing gowns.

We arrived much later than expected, the kitchen had closed but they offered to cook something for us, We had a really creamy risotto with sea bass and a beautifully cooked steak. Breakfast was good too.

Room Tip: Each room is different so it depends which style you like - but as it is incredibly popular and wi...

Very dissapointing overpriced food. My wife had an unbelievably small portion of seabass - they probably got 4 meals out of one fish. Another pub trying to charge restaurant prices but not delivering.Suggest they stick to traditional pub food at affordable prices.Didn't stop for another drink or desert as we felt ripped off + didn't want to give them any more of my hard earnt money. Used to love this pub but won't be going back unless things change.

A place to avoid if you are hungry or like value for money. Our portions were tiny - beautifully arranged on the plate, tasted good but there was hardly anything there. "Trout salad with new potatoes" had one small new potato cut into 4 and artistically arranged. Three of us had pork, there was just about enough meat but the vegetables amounted to about half a tablespoon of shredded cabbage and a tablespoonful of mashed potato. Service was poor, promised desert menu never arrived - you have to go to the bar if you want anything. We decided to go home for coffee & cake to fill up.
