Four of us stayed at the Islander’s Inn from February 8th through to February 11th. It was nice just to have some peace and quiet but yet be only about a 10 minute walk from the town of Clifton. Charles, the owner made every effort to ensure that all of our needs were met. We ate breakfast there and also dinner on Friday evening and lunch on Sunday. The meals were all delicious and specially prepared for us by Charles. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the little beach in front of the hotel. This was truly a relaxing experience and I would encourage anyone to stay at the Islander's Inn where the owner and staff are all excellent.

My wife and I have just returned from a two night stay at The Islander's Inn on an island hopping trip through the area. We were dropped off at the inn fairly late in the afternoon, though it was still light. It's in the middle of nowhere, on a dirt track, set by the beach, pretty much on its own. Having said that, you can walk into the middle of Clifton in about 15 minutes. The first thing you notice is that the land right opposite the inn is a bit of a scruffy wasteland, though it is not owned by the inn. The second thing we noticed is how extremely windy it is on this side of the island. It blew a hooligan all the time we were there, though it may not always be like this. The beach across the track is pretty small, but beautifully wild, and there are others within walking distance.

Clyde and Alison have built the inn up from scratch, and Clyde has done most of the buidling work himself. A labour of love.

Our room was the nearest to the reception and dining room, on the ground floor. We were the only guests at the inn while we were there. We had our own little terrace with table and chairs. The room itself was basic, as was the bathroom, where we had to hold the shower head as it was not fixed to the wall. There was a bedside table on only one side of the bed and no chairs in the bedroom itself, so we brought a couple in from the terrace. The bed itself was a standard sized double....not very spacious. There was no air conditioning in our room, which is fine, though even with the window open at night we were still sticky and uncomfortable. There was a not particularly effective mosquito net.

The bedroom was not really somewhere you'd want to while away the time, so we sat at the bar both evening we were there, chatting to Clyde and Alison and their hospitable niece, Katie. We also ate both evenings, and Clyde did us good home-made meals both times. They were pretty good value too.

Probably the best aspect of our stay was at the one breakfast we took at the inn. Clyde picked some fresh cocunuts from his palm tree, chopped them up a bit and stuck a straw in for us to enjoy fresh cococut milk. This was sweet and delicious. Clyde didn't have to do this, and we felt he'd gone the extra mile for us.

Generally, and comparing the Islander's Inn with other places we stayed on our trip, it was OK, but didn't really represent good value for money. It is probably overpriced at $110 a night.

Despite the room being rather basic, the hospitality of our hosts was such that I am scoring the Islander's Inn a 4 rather than a 3.

We stayed at The Islanders Inn for 5 nights and had a absolutely fantastic time. Clyde has built this place himself over a number of years and you can see the love and pride he has put in to it.
Service was outstanding, always putting us first, Clyde even rustled us up some delicious toasties when we arrived late. Katie and Alison were very friendly and immediately made us feel like one of the family.
Our room was clean and homely with a fantastic view of beach right from our balcony. We even saw turtles surfacing from the sea from our room.
Union island is a hidden gem, we walked around the island on the first day and saw some amazing unspoilt views. The people on the island are incredibly friendly, everyone we met said hello and by the end of a couple of days we knew a number of people by name.
Clyde arranged trips for us using local people who providing just what we were looking for, with lunch included. We went fishing, trip to Tobago cays snorkelling with turtles and visiting nearby islands.
We absolutely loved our time here, somewhere to relax, explore and enjoy the Caribbean.
Thank you Clyde, Katie, Alison and Ashayah.

The Islanders Inn is a great place to stay. The hotel is located next to the beach with a wonderful view. Clifton is at a short walk distance or you take a 5 min taxi drive. The staff and management is really caring and they organize lovely trips.Just ask them. Thanks again for making my stay one of the best in the caribbean

I went to this hotel last month and I have to say it was the best experience I have ever had. The staff was so friendly, polite, helpful and kind. I would highly recommend this hotel. I paid for bed and breakfast and when I went down for food each morning I was so satisfied with the amount given. The food was a little expensive but it was WORTH the money! To anyone that is thinking of visiting this lovely warm island, I defiantly recommend this hotel. Hope you have a great experience like I did.

Room Tip: the rooms fasting the sea are beautiful.

Nice location on the other side of the island from Clifton, steep hill but easy to get to and from the town. The room was spacious and functional with no frills. The price seemed as steep as the hill with 120 US for a double that was raised to 180 US just for converting to a twin. Only place we stayed so far that breakfast was not included. The point made by the owner was that the island is expensive and actually the breakfast is much better than any free ones you get (maybe true but did not sample it). Also cannot comment on the evening meals but did hear guests praising the quality of the food. I would say if money is a consideration just be clear what you are getting. Clyde or Charles, one of the owners is a really nice and funny guy who we had good banter with so would even consider going back to see him. (if he is not too upset with only a 3 star review :-) ) He did a nice job organising a tour of the Tobago Cays for us.

Room Tip: Try and get one facing the sea, ours was not

The Islanders Inn is a beautiful new little hotel just steps away from the white sand beach. The rooms are clean and spacious, and there is a constant breeze from the ocean. The staff at the hotel is very accommodating and helpful with organizing day trips or transportation. The location is just a little bit off the beaten path, but not so far from town that one feels isolated. The food is typical delicious local fare-- and the fresh fish is out of this world.
