“Amongst the best in the area”
Reviewed 13 April 2013

The Antelope has become my favourite pub in the Pewsey area in the six months or so I have been dropping by. The bar area has a nice homely feel, and you get a feel that the pub is a vital social aspect of the village of Upavon. It probably helps that members of the family who run the pub – who took over in the summer of 2012 I believe – are often present, and are a friendly bunch. The food is amongst the best in the area, and it always tastes as though the ingredients are fresh and care has been taken to make it a taste a cut above normal pub fare. I have eaten there about seven times now, and each time I try something different on the menu and am yet to be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed at the Antelope overnight whilst visiting friends in the area. Overall, delighted with the standard of accommodation and with the warm welcome we received from the owner.
Our bedroom was tastefully decorated and furnished with a very comfortable king size bed. We particularly liked the large on suite which has a large walk in shower. Another nice touch was the coffee making machine.
Apart from breakfast, we did not eat at the pub because we had a pre-arranged party elsewhere. The breakfast, as was the service that accompanied it, was superb! – I had a huge Full English which was delicious.
Clearly the owners of this pub/hotel take a great deal of pride in the quality of service they provide, I’d have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Tonight a group of f 10 members of my family met fora meal at the antelope. We were greeted with friendly smiles and courtesy , shown to our table and served drinks. The menu was varied and catered for everyone. The service was attentive and not rushed. The food was of a high standered- it was lovely. We had a lovely evening and will definately return for our next family gathering.

Excellent value for money, friendly, helpful, clean. The back stairs to the room were a bit grubby (cream carpet/high traffic), but the room itself was much better than expected from the photos. Newly renovated, an enormous bath and separate shower with lovely soap/shampoo, coffee machine and tea and biscuits. Much more than you would expect from a pub. More like a hotel.

We felt very well looked after, we were allowed to check-in early and sleep late, they even bought a baby cot for our arrival.

Room Tip: Room 4. Enormous bath.

As there were a lot of cars in the car park (It must be good, right?!), we just stopped by and popped in for lunch today when passing through Upavaon. Had a delicious homemade Irish Stew and a wonderful homemade plum and port crumble. Excellent value and the landlord and family were very chatty and welcoming. Well worth a return visit next time we are out that way.

Stayed for one night. Room fantastic-best shower ever; wide screen tv; great bed; 2 chairs !, and v.clean.
Had booked a meal in a pub in the next village-the landlord took us and his daughter picked us up!
What service!
We left with a warm glow as to how we were treated!

We stayed here NYE and were delighted with both the room and the pub. It was immediately apparent a lot of money has been invested into the rooms by the new owners. Our bed was huge and the bedding comfortable and soft. The elegant bathroom, with spacious rain shower, is similar to what you would find in a suite at a 5 star hotel.
Downstairs, the pub was quaint and cosy in a way you can't find in London. They had some nice local ales (well-kept) and menu with good variety. We only had the Wiltshire ham and cheese baguette but it tasted very fresh and came with a substantial amount of chips and salad on the side.
The place is family-run and service friendly and welcoming. Paul gave us coffee (proper coffee) on arrival and cooked us an English breakfast in the morning. We didn't have our own transport but he very kindly drove us to nearby Red Lion, where we had booked for dinner; his mate picked us up; and Paul dropped us to Pewsey station the next day.
