We could not have been made more welcome by a couple who have got the difficult job of being excellent hosts down to a fine art. We thorougly enjoyed our stay and the excellent well priced dinner and wine. Being cat lovers like Judith and seeing some of her work we have commissioned a painting of our cat from a photograph

Our 3rd visit to Chris and Judith, and just as enjoyable as ever. Very welcoming hosts and super evening meals on the terrace. Golf trip to Sable-Solesmes was new to us and a fabulous course and location. Roll on next year and more of the same.

This is a wonderful place to stay. I have never been to a bed and breakfast where we have been made to feel so welcome. Judith and Chris not only offer bright and comfortable rooms but also a hospitality second to none. They very generously spent time socialising with us on a number of occasions and were always happy to give advice and information about the region. They arranged tee times at local courses and provided maps showing the most scenic routes around the area.
We opted to eat evening meals at La Pigeonnerie and were glad we did - the food was excellent and it was interesting talking to Judith, Chris and other guests around the dinner table.
My husband and I can thoroughly recommend La Pigeonnerie - good accommodation, superb hosts and wonderful gardens to relax in, we only wish we were back there now.

This was my eleventh consecutive year staying at the Manoir de la Pigeonnerie. The first ten were ‘golf with the boys’ but this time we left our clubs behind and took our wives. After a decade of visits we knew what to expect and were not disappointed A very warm welcome, great attention to detail, every assistance in settling in and a ‘nothing is too much trouble’ attitude soon has one feeling very much at home. The en-suite rooms are spotless and comfortable, as are the reception and dining rooms and the garden is an absolute delight. Chris provides an excellent continental breakfast and if requested Judith will prepare a fine four course evening meal. They have a comprehensive knowledge of the locality and can and do offer advice on places of historic and/or cultural interest and a list of places to dine to meet all tastes. Should one wish to play golf on one of several good courses Chris will make all the arrangements. There is little doubt that we will avail ourselves of their excellent hospitality again in the very near future.

Room Tip: They are all good!

We first stayed with Chris and Judith in 2005 and enjoyed the experience so much that we returned the following year for a longer stay.Unfortunately,we have been unable to return until this year. The welcome was as warm as ever, the hospitality is awesome. Both Chris and Judith ensure that all your needs are met.
The cooking is superb, using all all home grown/local products. Their knowledge of the area and fluency in the language smooth the path for golfing, dining out or touring the area.
We have played a number of courses in the area and enjoyed them all and we look forward to visiting yet again in the near future.
Our tip is 3 days is never enough, recommend a 5 day stay . Tal and Jane

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.

I'm far too lazy to write a tome about my visit here with four golfing friends. Suffice it to say that the location is ideal, the residence superb and Judith and Chris (fonts of local knowledge) could not have done more and made our stay first class with all golfing and associated arrangements taken care of.
If you don't visit, you are missing out.
By the way, if you are playing golf, don't bother with the front 9 at Avrille, play the back nine twice or forget it altogether as the other courses are much better.

My husband and I stayed with Chris and Judith for a few days R&R last week. The weather was perfect, the food amazing, the garden absolutely beautiful with lots of interesting areas to sit and relax - alone or with others.

What makes this place different is the truly wonderful hospitality from Judith and Chris. They really mean it when they say 'whilst you're here, it's your home'. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Really. Judith is a wonderful cook (practically everything is home grown / made) and they both enjoy sharing dinner with guests in the beautiful spacious salon before they retreat to their own sitting room allowing guests to relax, chat, watch TV, play a multitude of games, read.... Anything! There is a very well stocked honesty bar (and we can recommend the house wine). We had a fabulous BBQ one evening; the best ever. Sitting outdoors in that garden was magical.

We flew into Rennes, which is worth a visit for the old town alone. Angers is lovely and I could have spent much longer there just wandering and people watching. If you're interested in DIY then visit the new out of town shopping area (locally called The Doughnut) where there is a Castorama (B&Q) to die for. Never seen anything like the stuff they've got there. Going back with a van next time! There is a great market in Chateau Gontier mid week - some of the usual tat but an amazing mix of quality stuff too. Recent investment has resulted in a really pretty town with some great individual shops.

All in all a definite 10 our of 10. Have stayed there once before and generally don't like returning anywhere on holiday as it never seems quite the same; this was better second time around. And there will definitely be a third.... Golf aplenty if you want it; R&R if you prefer. Perfect.

Room Tip: Double or twin (one triple) available; all rooms have ensuite, tea and coffee. Beamed ceilings are...
