Manoir de la Pigeonnerie
Reviewed 30 May 2014

We spent three nights at 'La Pigeonnerie' and were very happy we'd chosen it.
The house is very charming and the garden is absolutely beautiful. It's clear that a lot of work and love has gone into it. Chris and Judith are excellent hosts - very helpful and attentive without being overbearing.
We had some events to attend, so didn't get a chance to explore the area too much. However, it's clear that there are hidden gems all over. You can find amazing chateaus and castles to visit nearby. We hope to spend more time there one day.

Room Tip: Our bedroom ceiling was a bit low. It added to the charm as it retained many of the old features and...

Our second visit in 2 years, and our welcome and hospitality was even better than last time. We cannot recommend Manoir de la Pigeonnerie highly enough. After we left we had some days in Dinard in a 5 star hotel, we enjoyed our stay with Chris and Judith more, We will be back. If you are thinking of having a portrait of your cat or dog done from a photograph by Judith please do so, she is a great artist

Golfer's, if you are looking for a superb break with excellent accommodation and food then look no further, your hosts Judith and Chris look after your every need, Judith taking care of the inner man providing excellent breakfasts with evening meals, should you require these.
Beautifully kept bedrooms with tea and coffee making facilities and all rooms being en suite.
Chris will arrange and book your golf at one of the five courses in the area and provide you with directions, the courses ranging from a 20 minute to 50 minute drive away all with discounted green fees and often the course to yourselves.
All you have to do is arrive the rest is taken care of with great efficiency .
This was our fifth visit and already looking forward to our next one. Lovely area with peace and tranquility.

Room Tip: All the rooms are of the same high standard and beautifully kept.

It's good to know that old fashioned personal service is alive and well and it's to be found in St. Matin du Bois. Nothing was too much trouble for Chris and Judith. Chris booked our tee times and after a hard day on the course, dinner time couldn't come soon enough. Judith's dinners were really delicious. Our bedroom was spacious, light, comfortable and spotless. Also with WIFI. We were sorry to leave and can't wait to return. Chris and Judith are the perfect hosts and the experience was such a pleasant change from the bland, impersonal hotels one finds everywhere.

Room Tip: I should be surprised if all the rooms were.not as lovely as ours.

We were a little sceptical that La Pigeonnerie and Chris and Judith could possibly live up to expectations. We need not have worried. The holiday we had was every bit as good as we had been led to believe it should be.
Chris and Judith are perfect hosts, La Pigeonnerie is a beautiful house to stay in and the area has masses to offer. not just golf courses (only one of which we sampled - but that leaves us with a dew to try on other occasions).
All in all we can't recommend everything about it too highly.

We immediately felt at ease on arrival at La Pigeonnerie. Wonderful ambience and Chris and Judith could not do too much to make us welcome and help us with planning our golf and sight-seeing. We would thoroughly recommend La Pigeonnerie to anyone wanting some golf a bit off the beaten track but still within a days drive from the Channel ports

Room Tip: Room was great with a great view of their lovely gardens.
