“A charming, relaxing and picturesque holiday”
Reviewed 7 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

A delightful, extremely well equipped, little cottage set in amongst lovely large gardens within a beautiful village. Perfectly placed for exploring the countryside, coastline and character of Northumberland. We could not have wished for a more relaxing holiday experience.

Southmede cottage is lovely as are the owners Mike & Carol,& their 2 adorable dogs Mat & rug.
The flowers & hamper were very nice extra touches that made us feel very welcome.
The cottage is in an ideal setting,so peaceful but a mere 5mins walk into Warkworth village,it overlooks part of the owners beautiful garden, which guests are also allowed to enjoy.
Anything you could need for a self catering holiday is provided,we've stayed in lots of self catering properties, some that slept up to 6 & didn't have as much crockery, cutlery & pans,we were very impressed.
We've visited Northumberland & the Warkworth area several times before & we love the amazing beaches & peace & tranquility that can be found in this beautiful part of the world,Southmede cottage has been by far the best we've stayed in so far.

“Lovely Little Cottage”
Reviewed 9 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Stopped for 1 week in this cottage with its own private garden in a quiet area of Warkworth but within walking distance of all the local amenities. It was very peaceful and had everything that we could wish for. Lovely bathroom with all the hot water you could want and it was to us a cottage that was ideal for our needs. We visited a lot of local beaches and attractions and found Northumberland to be very attractive and the locals to be very helpful and friendly - and enjoyed some very interesting chats over a pint!

“Good location for the village and surrounding area.”

Very pleasant little cottage, perfect for a weeks holiday in Northumbria. We enjoyed the private garden, sitting outside on an evening and in the summerhouse when a little cold or drizzling! It is in a great position for exploring the area, having previously stayed at Guyzance and Embleton, Warkworth is more central for ourselves. Nearest town of Amble has plenty of small supermarkets for the essentials.

The cottage was a home from home and we loved it the minute we walked through the door. Mike and Carol were really welcoming and the dogs Rug and Matt were lovely. There are so many attractions within the area, we couldn't possibly do them all, but Holy Island, Cragside and Alnick Castle and Gardens are a must. There are plenty of places to eat, but we enjoyed the food at the Hermitage Inn in Warkworth so much that we ate there all week! The only downside was that we only had a week!
