We recently stayed at the PVL (Aug. 10th 2012) and found it to be an enjoyable stay. The property consists of something like 18 rooms spread across three houses that have been remodeled with similar eclectic décor.
The grounds have plenty of outdoor seating for sitting around outside and enjoying a drink and the property.
The lodge has a kitchen for guests, tv room, and dining area with a small library / book exchange.
The stay included a basic breakfast that was very good. This place has overall a bit of a bed and breakfast feel to it. But if you want to avoid the intimacy typical of B & B’s that is certainly possible.
Finally the manager was a very nice lady that made a great breakfast (cinnamon rolls, bread, cereal, hard boiled eggs) and she was a good resource regarding where to eat (Hells Canyon Inn), and things to do (go to Joseph). She also let us use their phone, cell service is extremely sketchy in the area.
