I like the restaurant because the decor is rustic, and the environment is conducive to a good conversation. The food is good, but nothing to rave about. A good overall value to enjoy with someone you care for!

I took some clients to this restaurant , from the U:S: and Australia, it all started wrong when I tried to make a reservation for the terrace and they told me they couldnt hold it if we were 5 minutes late , should have klnown better, got there 5 minutes after and the hostess said they already had given my table away, and when I told her i saw a few tables empty , she answered those were for
her BOSS and couldnt be used until he said for who, i stil stayed, big mistake they kept us waiting for a while and finally gave us a very unconforrtable table , but when the food came I was tottally embarassed , the tuna was rotten and old , the meat was not cooked as we asked and it was also very hard , the salad had no taste and the prime rib was pure fat with no meat , to top it off i had to order the wine 4 times since they did not have any of the bottles i wanted , is clear to me thast this is palce to show off but defenetly not to eat !!!! wil never go back...

You will enjoy the Almacen, as long as you sit on the terrace, inside is a boring cavern where all you can do is fous on the inconsistent quality of food. Shouldn't a restaurant that turns out hundreds of steaks a day know how to consistently serve the spectrun of doneness? Apetizers and salads are good but also suffer from a lack of quality control. Regardless, what you get here is a great terrace to enjoy the gdl weather and people watching and generally good food. Almacen is enjoying their success, it's always full, but needs to improve qc to sensure it stays successfull.

I am a bit embarrassed that it has taken me this long to write a review of ONE of my favorite restaurants in this entire metro area. For those of us who live here, we all know the area is 'well healed'. But this restaurant puts on no airs. I have eaten here at least 7 times since they opened and this is my first review. I tried to write a review right when they opened but Trip Advisor did not have them in their system yet. It is casual elegant, with a feel of the restored New York or San Francisco brick loft look. And this was built to look that way as it is new. So no money was spared in it's great design. One can sit indoors or outside by the bar area in front of the "Las Vegas" style lit fountains. Just another sign of the privileged neighborhood you are dining in.
All menu items are ala carte. But that does not mean you have to spend a fortune for a meal. The portions are far beyond what most diners can eat. You can also share things without feeling like it is something frowned upon, like many French Swiss restaurants! The charred cuts of meat are mouthwatering and cooked to perfection! If you want MR that is what you get. So many restaurants overcook meat here. It is just a fact. I live here and have my own business. I eat out a lot and take my guests to many restaurants. There are many great ones in my neighborhood in Chapalita....but for a nice night for beef, baked potatoes, good salads, soups, freshly cooked vegetables....this is home! I can't say enough about it. I tend to stay with the vacio just because of it's size, but have tasted everything. I would suggest that if you are looking for a fish restaurant, this would not be my first choice, but the salmon is fresh and is good. But this IS a beef restaurant in the first degree! Great wine list that has been well thought out for the cuisine...by the bottle or many selections by the glass if you are trying different things. The whole experience from being greeted at the door by name to great service in Spanish and English adds to it's special appeal when entertaining. Although my Bed and Breakfast is located blocks from Lula Bistro....another favorite of mine in "restaurant row Chapalita" this is a fantastic full service and fun dining experience that is about a $8.00 cab ride from Chapalita. It is worth every penny of it. And if you get full, don't even hesitate to ask your server to wrap up the other half of your large steak to take home. It can be two great sandwiches for the next day! Quantity with quality is hard to find...but not here. You must try this wonderful restaurant. It is also perfect for drinks and jazz ......and great slices of fantastic pizzas after a movie upstairs in the classiest Cinapolis VIP theater in the city!
Have fun,
JamesDickinson
