“Zero Tolerance”
Reviewed 19 December 2011

Went to this popular pub on Friday night. The first thing we experienced on entering was a terrible smell of cooking FISH? just like my gran used to do in the 50's. There was no seating for anybody but diners and when asked if there was we were told by the solomn barman, "No". That was it, no explaination or apology, just a "dont give a toss" remark. The drinks were overpriced at £14 for 2 pints, a half and one mixer with a single measure of Bicardi. Not too sure what to make of this but although I work and live a few hundred yards away I most definately will never go back there nor recommened it to anybody. We did not bother to stay and eat after that welcome. There are better within striking distance of this overrated pub/restaurant

Naomie, I think she is the manageress, always looks worried. We go often to the
Angel and we have never seen her smile.
Always enjoy the snacke better than the main meals, overall a pleasant place.

“Terrible Service, Terrible Food”
Reviewed 23 September 2011

Booked a table for 10 on 22nd September for family birthday. Arrived at 7.00pm and told that no Gammon Steak or childrens chicken breast as sold out. Timeliness of starters not too bad, however dinner was not received until around 8.45pm. We could see other people who arrived after us already being served their meals! When the meals finally arrived, the three steaks which had been asked for medium rare were all well done. Another meal was a chicken breast on cous cous, however was more the size of a chicken wing, disgusting seeing that this meal cost over £11. A further member of the family ordered a curry and received a small curry in one dish and a plate of rice on another, the rice all being stuck together in a block. 10 minutes after receiving this, the remaining part of the meal was delivered - some naan bread and a popadum with some dips, this being after the main part of the meal was finished. Also, requested cutlery several times and ended up getting some ourselves.

Overall a very disappointing experience as always used to have a brilliant reputation.
They were obviously under-staffed and all very young and inexperienced. None of us will be going there again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Used to be great”
Reviewed 14 July 2011

we were very disappointed at our last vist. We used to eat there regularly but is has certainly gone down hill. The portions have got smaller and I had to hunt for the ham with my ham egg and chips! Certainly not good value and we won't be returning.
