“Couldn't fault it - do go.”
Reviewed 19 August 2012

Although this is situated along a busy and nondescript road at Parley Cross, near Ferndown, it manages to provide a superb ambience inside and out. It has a large, simply grassed and natural, outdoor seating area with benches at the back, framed by large and beautiful oak trees and meadows beyond. This is surprising peaceful and relaxing. The inside is capacious and full of smaller areas cleverly contrived to provide intimate dining areas, and beautifully decorated with taste and style. The food choice and beer variety were very good and ranged from the plain to the unusual, and all beautifully served and generously portioned. I had a chikken tikka, which came in a deep bowl on a plate with rice, naan bread, a poppadom, and little pots of mango chutney and yogurt and cucumber. It was delicious. I also had a side salad, which was a whopping portion which three of us shared.Service was pleasantly provided, very friendly and efficient; you ordered at the bar. The prices were extremely reasonable.

“Nice place and good value”
Reviewed 30 July 2012

This Inn is on the main Christchurch Road and has a nice large car park. There is a good outside seating area with tables, chairs and parasols for fine weather use. Inside is spacious with tables and chairs as well as sofas, so plenty of choice of seating.

The decor is nice and modern and the whole place is clean and inviting. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

The drill is to find a table, choose your order and go to the bar and they allocate you a bottle with a number on it so that the servers know where to bring the food. Opening a tab is easy but you have to leave your credit card with them, they put it in a secure box and you keep the key.

Prices are reasonable with main courses from £7 upwards and there was a menu of summer specials. We chose the gammon steak with chips and egg, ham and leek pie with mash and risotto with butternut squash and blue cheese. Puddings were on offer, 2 for the price of 1 so we chose the chocolate cake, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate and orange cheesecake. All the portions were generous.

The total bill including 4 drinks was £46 which in my opinion was very good value.

The toilets are in the entrance foyer and were nice and clean.

Overall a very pleasant dining experience and I would be happy to return.

“A good dining experience.”
Reviewed 27 July 2012

Been there quite often over the last 2 years.
Good food, well presented, good prices and good service.
Staff are friendly and helpful and the whole place is clean and pleasant.
One of our favourite things is the absence of the rampaging, screaming children that infest most pub-restaurants, these days.- I believe there is an age restriction.
All in all, a good dining experience in a calm, pleasant environment.
