“Anniversary Dinner”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at Haisai. It was one of the most enjoyable meals we have ever had. The ambiance is charming - with a story behind every rock, shell and antler. The candles make it feel warm - even on the coldest of nights. The hostess, Mr. Stadttander's wife is so charming, we wanted to invite her to sit down with us and regale us with tales from "the farm". Our server, the son of the owners, was attentive, professional and very accomodating. The meal was exquisite - just the right amount and absolutely delicious flavours. We had Cave Spring Pinot Grigot to accompany the meal - it was extraordinary. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone - families, groups, singles alike - it is an experience - and one of the best we have experienced.

“Great use of local fresh ingredient and make a great meal”
Reviewed 23 July 2012

I always wanted to visit Eigensinn Farm. However, it is a bit pricey and long in up. I heard Chef Michael Stadtlander opened a new restaurant offers 4 to 5 course tasting menus with affordable price and same concern as Eigensinn Farm.

The restaurant itself is all build by the Chef. Everything from wall decors, chairs, tables to candle holders. From outside, you will never guess it is a 5 star restaurant. Fresh herbs were planted around the restaurant and there was a custom build wood oven just outside of the main door.

The food was amazing. We had White fish from Georgian Bay, Head Cheese nugget, Slow roast lamb and duck ravioli. Too bad Chef Michael wasn't there. He was cooking at the farm for another party. However, Guess Chef Marita was awesome and I love the menu.

If you like food made with fresh local ingredient, you will love Haisai. However, the food design are less complex and the favor are 1 to 2 tone. Personally, I like to taste what I eat. Therefore, I will recommend Haisai.

“Haisai”
Reviewed 3 January 2012

We went for a wedding dinner. We were treated to a fantasctic gourmet adventure. The food was delicious and the service fantastic. All food was home grown on local farms and we drank very tasty Ontario wine, a different one with each course. The restaurant looks fantastic, very artistic. Everything is handmade from glasses and crockery to furniture. Each chair and table is unique and rustic. The walls are decorated with unusual art. The restrooms are so pretty....must be used!

“Amazing Meal - would recommend and will return”
Reviewed 19 August 2011

The food was excellent and we plan to return.

We chose the set menu and each course was unusual and tasted delicious. There is also an a la carte menu - I believe both change daily.

Haisai is owned by Stadtlander and is run by a visiting chef. The meal we had was amazing.

The business/service model is more user friendly than Eigensinn.

The decor is weird. It only takes cash or debit (which wasn't working on our visit) They serve Ontario wines (the recommended ones were quite nice) or you can bring your own and pay a corkage fee. It isn't open every day so call ahead. It is right on Hwy 124, so not that difficult to find.

The price was competitive with high-end restaurants.
