We really didn't know what to expect and wanted to start out with a more low-key experience (not "swim" with the dolphins the first time out), so my husband and I booked the Dolphin Encounter. We went with the 3:00 group and there were only 10 people, 4 of whom were small children. Our trainer was Kenardo, and our Dolphin was Nemo. We were very pleasantly surprised at how much interaction we were able to have with the dolphin! We got into the water about waist deep, and "kissed" and "danced" with Nemo. Kenardo is very informative, knows his stuff and is very funny. He keys on the personalities of the people in the group. The dolphin was gentle and didn't appear stressed. The rest of the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. We even enjoyed watching other groups' experiences while we waited for our turn. The setting of Dolphin Cove is very natural and the trainers' interactions with their dolphins are fascinating to watch. This is not about a "show," but it is completely about being able to have a personal interaction with the dolphins and learn about them. We did not elect to buy the professional photographs, but we did understand why they don't want to have all kinds of people snapping photos. It's a calm, relaxing atmosphere. There are also several bird exhibits with a very knowledgeable trainer to help you understand, hold and take pictures with the beautiful exotic birds, and lovebirds to feed. We will go back the next time we are in Cayman, and will do the "swim"!
