Reviewed 23 June 2013 via mobile

Just had an excellent stay with my son while he was attending a course in Lancing. The Laurels was perfect for our needs. Fran was really helpful. Food good, room really clean, bright and comfortable. Great shower. Lovely village. Highly recommended.

Henfield is a quintissentially British, West Sussex town with up-market delis restaurants and bespoke shops.
It's also 30 minutes from Brighton and has peace, quiet and parking.
The Laurels has been a B&B for over 20 years, and it's own little way, does it well. The rooms are adequate, the floorboards creak. The beds (mine was a single) are small but comfy. The bedlinen is easycare polyester in bright colours. The bathroom was clean. The breakfast, very good.
It was also about half what you'd spend 30 minutes south. I'm not a fan of the British B&B, they're usually quaint and too cosy, with funny bathrooms with those macerating toilet flushers with large signs telling you what not to flush!
The Laurels, however, is good, and I recommend it- but not for a weeks holiday. The twin or single beds are not really suited for large adults, so I'd recommend the double.
TV and wifi are adequate (wifi-in the room! is free!).

Room Tip: Choose a double bed, even if you're travelling alone. Twin beds take up most of the spare space...

This is a superior B&B at an excellent price. Very conveniently located close to the village centre The Laurels is warm friendly and inviting. I have stayed a number of times and been made very welcome. Malcolm is a most convivial host who cooks an awesome full English breakfast. Everything freshly cooked to order. The rooms are spacious, very well appointed, bright and clean ant the beds very comfortable. There is a residents lounge and guests are supplied with keys so they can come and go as they please. Book with Malcolm and you will not be disappointed.

I am almost scared to write this review because the Laurels is such a gem , we often stay at the Laurels when we visit our daughter who lives in Henfield. Malcolm is so lovely and really makes you feel welcomed and nothing is too much trouble. Recently I booked my sister and my husband's brother and girlfriend to stay at the Laurels for our daughter's wedding, Malcolm made them feel very welcomed and he even drove my husband's brother and girlfriend to our daughter's reception venue. They all said " They had never laughed so much in years " and their stay was perfect in everyway. Malcolm's breakfast is always hot , beautifully cooked and he meets dietry needs of all his guests, The rooms are always presented to a high standard, excellent cleaniness and lots of lovely touches to make your stay comfortable. Infact home from home.

The general opinion expressed in the other reviews is fully justified. This is a clean, comfortable well equipped base for say a weekend exploring Sussex and the South Downs. If it suits you not to be in a busy town then the quiet location will appeal to you. The rooms are well stocked with refreshments and toiletries.
Although it has a guest lounge remember this is not a hotel, it doesn't claim to be so you may find it cramped for a longer stay. Having said that the standard of cleanliness here puts some larger hotels to shame. My wife and I both had a cooked breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed.

I really cannot add anything to the preceding reviews. I stayed in a single room , which although not ensuite, had its own dedicated bathroom immediately opposite. Everything provided, from towels, linen, to breakfast, was of an excellent standard and Malcolm Harrington the owner, was very welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone.

Linda & Peter Mc.
We recently had an ovrnight stay at 1The Laurels. We booked a single room for for an elderly relative & we stayed in a double en suite room. (Pink room). We were very comfortable & the facilities were clean & very well cared for. We were made very welcome by Mr Harrington & we ejoyed a lovely full English breakfast before journeying on. It is a lovely place to stay & would highly recommend it.
