Cottages are in the Bassenthwaite village which is small with a picturesque stream running through it. It has a pub called the Sun which has local beers and serves food. Dogs are allowed into the public bar. Serving staff are friendly and will hold a conservation with you. The village does not have a shop.
The cottage accommodation was very good. It consisted of a kitchen, large public room, two good size upstair bedrooms and bathroom. Beds were very comfortable and it is very quiet at night. Parking is in the farm courtyard right outside your cottage. The cottage was very clean, has a flat screen tv and digital tele. Has storage heating which is included in your holiday rent as well as a fire with coals and logs - very warm cottage. Electricity for lights, cooking, fridge, dish washer and tv is supplied via a £1 coin meter which does NOTeat up your money.. DOGS ARE ALLOWED. Child friendly with play area beside shallow stream. The Indian Runner ducks live on the farm and parade up and down to the stream all day - great sight for the kids. Fresh ducks eggs are always available for breakfast and taste great.. Owners are very pleasant and helpful people. We will go back - our dogs loved the stream.
