Amazing magical place! Great food! Great Breakfast!! Great proffesional and Caring Staff! I loved the gym and Spa.. and the standard of clean everthing was. Also the room with roof terrace was beautiful! The best of all, though was the hotels Wild Life ZOO!!! and the eagle and bird displays! This place is a 100% must! Its a credit to the image of The Lakes and the UK!

Room Tip: Choose a lalke view room on the top floor, and be amazed!

Enjoyed our stay here. The service is excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We were offered the choice of dining in the brasserie instead of the 5 course dinner in the restaurant which we were meant to have (I think they were very busy in the restaurant that night). so, we said yes and got a free bottle of wine included. the food is very good and I really enjoyed eating in the brasserie as it was very quiet, so the service was really quick. we then relaxed on the big sofas and drank more wine and it was a lovely evening. The spa is good and the breakfast was more than pleantiful-with lovely views out over the mountains. The hotel had a hawk display the next day, which whetted our appetite to go to Trotters world of animals next door. We had a really good time there and watched two bird displays (the owls were beautiful) and wandered around. Really enjoyed our stay in the hotel.

I decided to stay here with my mum on a luxury spa weekend break as many people had reccomended this hotel to me. Being a therapist myself I was very interested in the spa and especially having treatments. We arrived early in the morning as we had our treatments that day. I was amazed at how beautiful the pool and spa area was. There is a lovely pool for adults and also a separate mini pool area for children. On the pool side, many loungers were there so if you didnt feel like a swin you could just relax with a magazine or a book. Also separte to the pool was a thermal area where there was the gorgeous jacuzzi, steam and sauna room. Outisde was a large hot tub with again lovely relaxer chairs where you can sit and enjoy the views of the grounds. very private and peacful would be lovely on a summers day, unfortunatly it was very rainy that day for us.There is a large gym also but i didnt go in as wanted to relax. As the for the spa treatments i was very satisfied with mine, as was my mum. We both had a facial and body massage which was appriciated and lovely for me to relax and have this done. We did also dine in the restaurant that evening and again i must say food was amazing. Rooms were lovely, we had a spa room which is on the ground floor only a few steps to the spa and we had a lovelly terrace which again was overlooking the beautiful surrounds of Armathwaite Hall. Overall very impressed and Will be return.

Room Tip: Anyone on a spa weekend, ask for the gound floor spa rooms. Not far from spa and has lovely garden t...

Took my mother for lunch and it was beautiful. The service was excellent as the staff went the extra mile and even gave us a tour of the spa as we mentioned the spa. The food was to a very high standard, hot in temperature, rich in taste, well presented and was very well priced. Then to have coffee, a staff member mentioned they had the fire lit in the lounge, which the lounge took our breath away. The whole place was very clean and looks to be very well maintained. A magical visit that I would seriously recommend to anyone. In one word, WOW.

I have rated the room a five purely to give a good average score, however I did not stay in the room.

I stayed at Armathwaite Hall recently with a friend for a spa break. From the moment we arrived at the picturesque setting and were given a very warm welcome by the reception staff & porter we knew we'd chosen the perfect venue.
Throughout our stay evey member of staff we met gave the same warm, courtious service.
The food in the restaurant was superb, the room sumpuous and the whole setting a calm oasis of luxury.
The spa staff were friendly & professional and the relaxation room with its comfortable "beds" with duvets & fur throws made it a special treat.
I could not recommend this hotel and spa highly enough - we will be back!
Thank you all for the warmest of welcomes and the highest standard of friendly professional service.

Room Tip: I think we had room 122 at the side of the hotel wih its own balcony & view towards the lake - f...

We stayed at Armathwaite Hall in the Hartley Tower Studio Suite on 5th March 2012.

What can I say?

After reading some of the reviews on Tripadvisor, I wanted to go with an open mind, not pre-judging as not every hotel gets it right every time and despite my best intentions, I arrived looking for faults before our stay even started.

Yes, there were "issues", but I can tell you .... they didn't matter. They REALLY didn't matter.

The Hotel and Spa are first class, if a little pricey.

The spa facilities are some of the best we have ever seen, and after working / visiting in some of the most exclusive hotels in the UK and beyond, that is something the hotel should be very proud of. If pampering is what you are after, then Armathwaite is your place!

The staff were attentive when needed, not intrusive. The food was excellent, the service brilliant, the location stunning.

So what were the issues?

Little, tiny things......... no broadband / wifi access in our suite. We had to go downstairs to the public rooms to check emails. In a venue of this stature, at the prices they charge, surely in 2012 wifi should be avaialble across the entire hotel?? Not all vistitors are there to be pampered, some will still have to work whilst away from the office.

The costs were quite high ..... £30 for a bottle of wine delivered to the room whereas another bottle of wine from the Brasserie during dinner only cost £18.95 .... for the same thing?????

Overall, I can not fault the Armathwaite Hall and Spa and hence they get a full 5 stars from us.

Would we go back???

We are already planning our return over the easter period!

Have just returned from our honeymoon at Armathwaite Hall and we have to say that this goes into our top 2 holidays of all time. AH was SO much more than we imagined in that surroundings, the hotel, our room and in particular the staff, were just second to none. We took our dog Peggy with us and we were pleased to find that she had her own dog basket in our spa room, along with dog treats and complimentary poo bags. This might not sound alot, but it's a details like this that makes all the difference to dog owners.

We also arrived to complimentary champagne and truffles to celebrate our marriage and with a TV at the end of the bath, we throught we had died and gone to heaven.

We had 2 x 5 course dinners as part of our package and the food was simply delicious with outstanding service. We watched a promgramme with Michele Roux in 2011 in which he said that good service meant that you should never have to ask for anything - and we never did.

Our whole experience was perfect and we felt looked after and pampered throughout. We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: The spa rooms are perfect for dog owners as they have a patio door which opens out onto a small wall...
