My husband and I spent two nights at this lovely hotel at the beginning of June. The hotel is set in beautifully landscaped grounds with the most wonderful views. Our room was very tastefully decorated and had everything we needed (only one very SMALL point - the shower could have benefited from being more powerful).

As for the food and service - I simply cannot believe this is only a 4-star as both were EXCEPTIONAL. (Far superior to the 5-star Cameron House at Loch Lomond where we stayed a few months back). The staff couldn't have made us more welcome and were very attentive throughout our short stay. The food in the main hotel restaurant was absolutely delicious but we also thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had in the brasserie.

The outside hot tub was an added bonus - sitting there in the sunshine watching the bunny rabbits running around the landscaped gardens was delightful.

The only downside was that we hadn't book for longer.

We were a party of 4 girls, and we were lucky enough to get a great deal through Travel Zoo. Driving up to Armathwaite Hall is breath taking, we stayed for one night and were blessed with warm and sunny weather. We made full use of the spa when we arrived and the following morning. The Spa over looks the gardens and it is tranquil and beautiful. The girls that had treatments had really enjoyed it. Our rooms were really lovely (Spa rooms), with big beds. We had our meals in the Brasserie which was beautiful, breakfast the following morning in the conservatory overlooking the lake, amazing and with a very good selection. Walking around such and amazing garden and hall was a real treat and I would highly recommend to any one to go.

After a lovely 3hour walk in gorgeous countryside we thought it would be lovely to stop for a cream tea. We had our dog with us and so I asked a member of staff if we could have tea outside - 'of course, I will get someone to come to you' he said. Two other couples were having tea on the patio so we were in the right place! We waited over 15mins - no one came. We left. My husband went to reception to let them know he was disappointed. The receptionist said 'I am sorry to hear that'! I just don't think they care. Shame beautiful location.

This hotel is a gem of a place to stay. Receptionist was extremely welcoming and as it was my birthday they upgraded us to the best room, with balcony overlooking the lake. We used the spa acilities, swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room etc in tastefully surroundings. Restaurant service and other services used was the best we have ever experienced. The food in the restaurant was outstanding and all staff were intent on pleasing you to ensure that you have a wonderful stay.

We stayed on a two day deal arranged with travelzoo and would go back without hesitation. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: try to get a room overlooking the lake.

We were greeted by a friendly receptionist and offered a glass of sherry when arriving for our 2 nights stay on travel zoo deal ,very good value. Really nice room, excellent pool area, food good in the brassiere but didn't eat in the restaurant. The hotel is in a great location and the views to the lake are
spectacular. Would love to go again soon.

We have just returned from an overnight stay at The Armathwaite Hall Hotel and wish we had been there longer!! It was a lovely treat from our son and his beautiful new bride as a Thank you for help with their wedding. As soon as we arrived we were met by friendly and efficient staff on Reception, given a welcome glass of sherry (nice touch), a beautiful Spanish porter showed us to our room, apologising for his English as he had only been there 2 weeks. (His English was much better than our Spanish and I am sure he will do well). Our room was small but tastefully done and a lovely view over the front of the garden (really pleased as we were on a Travel Zoo voucher). We ventured to the beautiful spa, again staff very pleasant and welcoming, we used the pool and lovely outdoor pool and my hubby went to try to order us a drink and bless him the maintenance man came to our rescue and even brought the wine menu and drinks were delivered in due course. We had a wonderful three course meal in The Brasserie restaurant (it might be helpful to put a notice on the door inviting you to go to the bar and you will be shown to a table-we weren't the only ones unsure of what to do!) The staff were lovely and we enjoyed a delightful three course meal-excellent value even the excellent steak was on the offer!!it would be nice to have a choice of sauces for the steaks (more than happy to pay for that). We weren't rushed but looked after-thank you. After dinner we walked around the wonderful grounds it is a breath taking setting. Every member of staff around the hotel speaks to you with a smile on their face and make you feel at home. The breakfast was served in the main restaurant- just stunning and again lots of staff on all so well trained and service brilliant. All in all we were so impressed and really enjoyed our stay and we will definitely return. It is somewhere you feel, relaxed, special and looked after.

Room Tip: We were on a voucher so probably got a smaller room but room 167 was just lovely. If you want a vie...

We stayed here in November 2013 just as the Christmas decorations came out, and it was such a lovely place to be. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, we couldn't have asked for more! We found our room to be more than satisfactory. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable, and I particularly loved the tv in the bathroom! The food was excellent, especially the breakfast. Definitely a good way to start the day! The grounds are beautiful and it's so peaceful, it makes the place a perfect place to getaway. And of course the spa was perfect. We couldn't get enough of the outdoor spa.

We loved the place, so much so that we've booked our wedding there and are returning for a short break in July- I'd definitely recommend this hotel!
