“A lovely cottage - Just what we needed!”
Reviewed 29 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed in The Stables last weekend and it couldn't have been more perfect for what we needed. As a group of four girls it had plenty of room, a stroll into Cockermouth and was a perfect base for our weekend visiting friends.

Thanks to Mark for being so helpful with our booking too.

A definite recommend from us.

“Great cottage, lovely friendly host.”
Reviewed 29 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We really loved staying in the cottage. Mark was so lovely, we had to change cottage due to boiler problems (prior to us arriving) and he put us in his other cottage (The Hayloft) which was just as lovely - he even left us a lovely box of chocolates for us to enjoy on our arrival. There were clean sheets, towels and a basket of fire wood. The cottage was so lovely and homely that even our dog felt at home. We really enjoyed the games room which is equipped with a full size snooker table, table football, board games and a piano - lovely to spend some time out of the rain. The cottage is a 2 minute walk to a lovely village shop with pretty much everything you could need. The area where the cottage is feels lovely and safe - would definitely come back (maybe this summer) and would definitely recommend. Thanks.

“Lovely stay”
Reviewed 3 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Stayed in The Saddlery over new year! Was abit nervous at first but when we arrived we where very impressed with the cottage! Very clean, well equiped, cosey, enjoyed the snooker table! Was nice to receive a bottle of champers & chocolates! The only downfall is the location, no pubs in walking distance but not too far if you have car! I would recommend these cottages and shall be returning! Thank you for a pleasant stay.

“Beautiful Cottage Amazing Location”
Reviewed 19 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights to explore the northern Lake District! On arrival we were very impressed with the Cottage. It seemed to have everything we needed and more! Very well equipped kitchen which we used to cook some hearty food! In fact I am a chef and fell in love with the designer kitchen (I wanted to bring it home with me!!).

The dining area and lounge were very good and included a wood burning stove which was easy to use and came fully stocked with a bag of logs! Upstairs were 2 nice sized bedrooms, there was only 2 of us so only used 1 room but loved the layout of the other bedroom with the 3 single beds

The few neighbours we saw were friendly, and the outside seating area in a picturesque courtyard setting was perfect for coffee and watching the sunrise! On top of all of that there was a games room with full size snooker table and loads of other board games and table football etc!

We explored the North of the lakes, visiting Derwent Water (about a 20 minute drive). We climbed Catbells, this is half a mountain but offers breathtaking views over Keswick Derwent and Skiddaw (we could even see Scotland as the weather was sunny and clear). Keswick is a charming town as is Cockermouth both offering great independent Art galleries, shops and eateries!

There is only one negative we could find with our stay, why did we not book to stay for longer! We will be back and will HIGHLY recommend this accommodation to anyone, couples, families, even large groups if you book the neighbouring properties too! We are already thinking it could be a great place to stay with the whole family for a future New Year if it was available!

“Cosy, beautifully furnished and extremely peaceful”
Reviewed 26 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We had fantastic stay at the Stables. It was great that we could also bring our 2 dogs along.
The cottage is in a great location short drive from the local towns and we could get into the Lake District very quickly. The Cottage was decorated well, very clean and had all the facilities that we needed. It was extremely relaxing and peaceful. I am definitely looking forward to booking our next trip there!

Perfect cottage if you want an ideal getaway. Located in a small village away from main roads noise. Was quite difficult to find initially despite detailed instruction provided by the owner. The cottage was nice and clean, all neccessary kitchen equipment was present.
Perfect location for both Lake District valleys and the coast.

“Fantastic Getaway”

Our stay at The Stable was well worth the journey. Located in High Brigham, it's a perfect distance from both the coast and the lakes, meaning we could spend a day at both.

The accommodation itself was very comfortable with everything we needed and the wood burner made the evenings relaxing for both us and our dog! The kitchen and bathroom were both well kept and modern but didn't distract from the traditional feeling of the building. Located in a spacious courtyard, it was easy to find and allowed us to chat to our neighbours.

If we return to the lakes, we will definitely book this accommodation again.
