“An English Rose”

My husband and I were very fortunate to receive a voucher as a wedding gift from friends for a romantic break at The Pheasant Inn. This lovely little gem is the essence of English hospitality. Each bedroom is uniquely furnished with a lot of thought and attention to provide a relaxing and luxurious break in its simplest form. The food is 'melt in the mouth' and full of wholesome goodness and I've never tasted such amazing sausages for breakfast (sourced locally ofcourse). Enjoy! :)

Planned a two night stay based on a special offer that was available at the time - included bed, breakfast and dinner in the Bistro to the value of £20 per person. Decided to stay another day because we enjoyed it so much on the same special rate. Good location for walks and visiting all areas of the Lakes. Quiet and very peaceful. Our room was spacious, very clean, very warm and comfortable and had a area to sit. The decor was in keeping with the quaint style of the Inn. The bathroom whilst very adequate was in need of a bit of updating and was too warm and did not have a window to open. Nice toiletries though. Nice little touches - home made shortbread on the drinks tray and a daily weather forecast and the option to have a packed lunch made up. We dined in the Bistro and whilst was not the best food we have ever had there was a good choice and it was perfectly adequate and very welcome after a day's walking. The service was prompt and the staff were very friendly and took time to chat. The cooked breakfast was very good and you could have whatever combination you wanted rather than being given things you may not have wanted or would be wasted. The cold selection was fairly standard. Overall a really enjoyable stay and would recommend if quaint, and relaxing is what you are looking for.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel because of the views. The rooms at the front overlook the pa...

We spent 2 nights at the Pheasant Inn and loved it. We had a really nice room with a huge bathroom. Ate both nights in the bistro and the food was delicious. There was a cozy bar and lounges with real fires. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Can't wait to return.

We stayed again here, after first staying last year.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Good points; the lounges, the get away from it all location- but with several walks very near the hotel- breakfast ( best fry up ive had anywhere in the world in fact- just lacked crusty bread and sweets eg danish), quaint charming bedroom- wooden beams probably hundreds of years old too-, choice of bistro or restaurant, staff very helpful, an amazing bar, the gardens, hearing the posh voices of many residents!

This doesnt get a 5 start though because1 or 2 minor things.......bathroom wallpaper in disrepair, rooms a touch pricey, breakfast lacked crusty bread and sweet stuff, they put out the lounge fires a touch too early in the evenings.

Overall though excellent, and would visit again, It is still a special (though not cheap) place.

ps the spa offsight is usually fantastic- we had a dissapointing trip there this time as they didnt get the temperatures in the pool and sauna etc right- but hopefully thats a blip. The spa has been fantastic when we visited it the time before

Room Tip: we have our eye on "fellside" next time we visit

As always all aspects of the stay were top drawer.

Polite and helpful reception.

The rooms are very traditional, this may not be to everyone's tastes, but they are warm, comfortable and welcoming.

We ate fantastic food at both the bistro and the restaurant. The cooked breakfast is in my opinion the best you'll get almost anywhere.

I love the bar.

It's a wonderful country hotel and I look forward to my next visit.....I don't have to wait long thankfully.

After a meeting in Leeds, I had a meeting locally, so once more stayed at my favourite place in the Lakes & it did not disappoint me. My room, Derwent was lovely & comfy & after the 2 hour drive it was great to relax in a nice hot bath...and a few early doors in the 'best bar' in Cumbria.
My meal in the Bistro was excellent, traditional prawn cocktail to start, with juicy plump prawns and batterd fish & chips for my main, finished off by pushing the boat out with a naughty rum cheesecake - delicious!
As usual the staff were first class and after a great nights sleep I was eating once more, choosing smoked salmon & scramble egg for breakfast...a perfect start to one of those perfect days in the Lakes, sunny, bright & vivid blue sky's...The Pheasant always delivers, must book another meeting soon.
