Should you ever be in the area of Bassenthwaite Lake, the only true lake in the Lake District, then you must pay a visit to St. Bega's church which is situated near the lakeside. Just a short walk from The Ravenstone Manor ( 2 miles there and back ) it is well worth the effort. Very tranquil. Inside the church there is a table with over 50 copies of the New Testament each in a different language. Most interesting. Don't forget to put something in the box.

two visits , firstly to Mire House with surrounding Dodds Woods ,nice grounds and very nice lakeside walk . Don't miss the small church , a haven of tranquility . We stayed at Armathwaite Hall and the hotel have a printed walk to the lake shore which is well worth it for the views but also some history of the area

We had a fantastic time here. My dad was diagnosed with cancer and we got married 2nd April and took dad along with family and friends for a break away instead of a honeymoon. Chris upgraded our lodges for us and bent over backwards to help us make wonderful memories. You want for nothing here . They even supplied bowls towels biscuits and poo bags for our old labrador who we took with us. Its a real home from home. Sumptuous stunning and simply perfect. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend everyone to visit. Thank you so much chris you are amazing. X

I am sure that all the lakes in the Lake District are beautiful,But Bassenthwaite Lake seems somewhat ordinary when compared with the splendour of Wastwater,Buttermere,Crummock Water,Ullswater or Ennerdale Water, which are all closer to and surrounded by mountains.

A late afternoon visit to this lake. Its always quiet as I think alot of people don't know where to go.

We always go via St Begas church which is accessed by car/foot through a field. Thats always exciting for the kiddies.

A lovely quiet place away from typical tourist traps. The church is small and situated right by the lake.

Definitely worth a trip.
