“Very Comfortable, quiet and restful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We were very pleased with our stay here. Lovely views to the North, Ullock Pike within view out of one of the bedroom windows. Although on the edge of things Lakeland, it's plenty near enough to explore various fells of Wainwright Books 3, 4, 5 and 6. No problems with the facilities within the house, there are two TV's one of which had Sky with patchy signal capture. There is plenty of space outside and it was nice to wake up to the sheep in the nearby field welcoming their morning feed from the farmer. We agree with other comments about shopping. It has to be either Keswick or Cockermouth. We would recommend Kirkstile Inn as a great place to eat and drink, if you don't mind a twenty minute drive.

“Unique and beautiful part of the world.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

The 17th-century stone farmhouse has been carefully refurbished, so as not to lose its historical heritage while becoming an extremely comfortable and roomy place to stay.
It is situated in a quiet lane, presided over by towering fells. The weather went from hail, scudding clouds and strong winds (all in the space of one morning!) to clear blue skies, but the heating system kept Mireside warm and snug. The beds are comfortable, the hot water dependable, and strong showers welcome at the end of a day spent exploring. Public footpaths and bridleways are numerous, one going right past the house.
The lounge room and kitchen are one big room, with inviting couches, big wooden table and chairs. Cooking and storage facilities are good.
The Sun Inn at nearby Bassenthwaite (walking distance) has good food and drink. For quite an out-of-the-way pub, it was very popular, and handy to Mireside.
We have loved staying here, and admire the way the owners have changed Mireside from a traditional farmhouse to the high -standard holiday-let that it has become.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.
