“Excellent setting for a pleasant hotel.”
Reviewed 18 April 2013

We were made very welcome. Our room (no. 1) was comfortable with a good-sized bed. The bathroom was a little bit pokey but very clean. Food was very pleasant and the breakfasts were outstanding - the full English had some of the tastiest bacon and sausage I have tasted. The lounge is very comfortable. The setting is very striking, with an uniterrupted view over Bassenthwaite lakes to the fells beyond. It is also very easy to find - turn right off the A66!

Room Tip: Ours had the superb view - I don't know if all the rooms are on the front of the hotel. It certa...

We think we are in a wonderful part of the northern lakes and we are so pleased you also enjoyed your stay. Pleased also that you enjoyed the food including our locally sourced sausages. Kim and Cherin

This was our 2nd stay at Ravenstone Manor and nothing has changed our opinion that this is probably the best small hotel in the Lake District and certainly the best we've ever stayed at in the UK! From the warm and friendly welcome from owners Cherin and Kim to the cheerful and helpful staff the whole experience reminded us of why we enjoyed out first visit so much. Nothing was too much trouble from allowing us to borrow one of their walking books to them kindly storing a couple of Higginson pork pies in their fridge for the duration of our stay! The food is truly exceptional and they cater for those with a gluten intolerance. We chose to stay for dinner both nights having enjoyed the food last time and again we were not disappointed... Venison on the 1st night and Shin of Beef the 2nd! The full English breakfast is excellent too being of good quality locally source produce and not over facing in quantity. If you've never been to Ravenstone Manor but love the Northern Lakes around Keswick and Bassenthwaite then we highly recommend that you give it a try. Once you have we think you'll agree that it really is a little gem and an experience you will never forget.

Room Tip: They have 21 rooms and all are on the front of the hotel so every one has great views, is clean and...

Having stayed here on our mini-moon, we decided to head back to celebrate our 1st Anniversary. Once again the room, food and friendliness of staff was brilliant. Nothing is too much bother and they really go the extra mile to ensure that your stay is everything you want it to be (and more). We will definitely be back. PS thank you Cherin for all your thoughtfulness.

Room Tip: Room 3 has the most spectacular views

Hi, stayed at Ravenstone for a two night break away with just my camera in Jan. Kim and Cherin were so welcoming anbd had done everything possible to accommodate my dietary needs which was brilliant. Travelling alone it was great to stay somewhere so friendly. I hope Kim;s broken arm has now recovered but her mishap had the benefit of bringing her parents running to help out and they were a charming couple to have long natters with over thebar and by the open fire. The building has a slightly Tyrolean feel to it (a manor it ain't) but has a real charm and a full size snooker table! My double room was fine but completely upstaged by the fantastic bathroom with toe warming floor.

Food was good but not everything tried by the chef came off but enough did to make for great eating. (pickled ox tongue on a crumpet???)

There's good Black Sheep on hand pump and a good selection of whisky. Full English was excellent.

The staff went all the way to be accommodating of my needs to get out at the cvrack of dawn to take photos and made prridge for me at 10.30 in the morning. They also lent me a flask so would get frozen to deqth standing in the cold.

Hi. Just wanted to give a short review of Ravenstone. Spent 2 nights in room no.21. on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th April 2013. Room very cosy, clean, warm. Bathroom recently decorated and very modern with lovely shower and shampoo supplied. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate supplied very nice. The breakfast one of the best (if not the best) l have ever had. All in all a fab place to stay and will hopefully return sometime in the future. Thank you to all the staff.

Room Tip: We had room no.21, on the top floor so would recommend this room if you are ok climbing stairs. l a...

A truly relaxing and enjoyable stay. The rooms are unique and absolute treasure troves of interest and quirkiness. The food is delicious and the little cosy bar great if you want a chat or peace to chat with whoever you are with. The log fire is great if the night is cool.
