“Relaxed weekend away”

I purchased a Living Social voucher for £99.00. This incuded a two night, classic double b & b break for two. I decided to upgrade go a premium double with a view. I ended up paying a further £30. Per night. We also dined in Charlotte's View restaurant on the second evening. That cost £27.50 for 4 course menu. The room was clean, roomy but cool. An electric fire was provided to take off the chill. The bathroom was newly fitted. The meal me ate was lovely and the breakfast was very filling. Lots of chose. The hotel has a bar and large lounge with a coal burner. They supply books and games, which we utilised on both evening's. The staff were extremely attentive and the owners Kim & Cherin were lovely. We would be happy to return. Next we will be booking a classic double, because they were just as nice. (Taxi to Keswick cost £10.00, ask for Suzi)

Room Tip: Chose a classic

Our stay at Ravenstone was memorable. We were looked after by the staff and our hosts Cherin and Kim, everyone is friendly and cant do enough for you...
The food is superb. The meals cooked by the chef are outstanding even better than our favourite restaurant but added to that are the extra touches like the jams and chutneys (cheeseboard wow!) which are made by Cherin (afternoon tea is amazing and very reasonable!!). Even the coffee has been specially blended. Breakfast is wonderful both the full English and the poached haddock were scrumptious. It's the attention to detail that we loved and cant mention everything in one review. Yes it was cool in places but bearing in mind this is a large manor house steeped in history and the coldest time in winter, the roaring fires and modern bathrooms with underfloor heating and what I call "movie star" mirrors as the lights are within the mirror (great for applying makeup!!) completely make up for that. There's plenty of extra heating in the rooms if you need it including radiators!!! Returning in March for 4 days, cant wait....

Room Tip: We stayed in a lake view room and had a superking bed!!! Lovely...

Ravenstone Manor is a comfortable hotel. Our room (no 1) was at the front overlooking the beautiful hills. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom small but adequate. Lighting in the room was dire as a result of the Eco-friendly bulbs - impossible to apply make-up but again not a major issue. breakfast decent although a little slow if you want a full English. Bar is a great place to meet folk and husband loved the snooker room (had to wear a coat though due to low temperature in there). . My main concerns were on two counts.... first, being asked what time I planned to be home ( took me back to being 15 when my Mother used to ask the same question) and secondly everything is locked up overnight so if you are an early riser, you have to sit in the hallway as the lounge, bar etc is locked until breakfast!!!!! Felt like I was living in someone's house rather than a paying guest.

Room Tip: pay the upgrade to a better room

We have enjoyed 2 stays at Ravenstone Manor (as a "young" middle aged couple) and thoroughly enjoyed both stays. Though the stays were both of only 2 nights, we feel quite attached to the place, the staff and the hosts Kim and Cherin.
I can only state that our stays were faultless. In brief:-
Warm, friendly atmosphere, nice accommodation, good service and wonderful food from an award standard chef, great location and sufficient parking. Spot on!
We'll be back.
M and B Shaw.

Another excellent stay. The welcome is always warm and friendly in this haven of peace and comfort and the food, especially for those with a special diet, is top drawer. A real gem in Lakeland's crown.

Room Tip: Premium doubles with a lake view are recommended

We saw this hotel on offer through Groupon. When I rang to check availability we received a better deal from the owners. We were given free of charge an upgraded room as the hotel was quiet for the first evening. The welcome was second to none especially given fresh milk to take to the bedroom for our cuppa. The room was on the first floor and overlooked the lake. This is a hotel with quaint rooms with open fires and very cosy. The hosts are very attentive and chat about the history of the house. The food is gorgeous and more than ample. We had only booked the evening meal for the first night (which was included in the offer) but after enjoying it so much we opted to eat at the hotel for the second night. Glad we did. We shall certainly look out for further offers in the future.

We have just had another stay at the Ravenstone, the Hotel and rooms were spotless, and the staff very friendly and helpful, but we agree with david h, we would also have preferred a less fancy and a more simple menu. We enjoyed our break apart from the weather.
