The service was great with really nice staff. Room was brilliant with a spa bath that proved to be just perfect after a days hikiing!! As i am a very fussy eater at first glance the menu didnt seem very big, but when the food came it was fantastic!! Id recomend to anyone wanting a break in a peaceful location!! Thankyou for a wonderful 21st, we'll definately be back!!

We arrived at the hotel on Thursday and were shown to our room number 15 it was well presented with flat screen TV modern bathroom with lovely tub and shower over the bath (Plenty of hot water) and under floor heating very cosy after a day walking in the lakes. The room was snug and warm with lots of storage space for clothes(Hiking booots walking sticks, cameras etc)) and the next morning when we looked out of the window in daylight offered uninterrupted views of Bassenthwaite lovely on a cold crisp January morning.

The hotel was very nice with a large panelled lounge and a very snug bar with roaring coal fire selling ales wine & spirits leading onto a large games room with snooker, poole and table tennis all free to hotel guests and the restaurant was equally charming and at breakfast afforded the great views over the valley we had from our bedroom.

But the best feature of the Hotel was its food, it was excellent the breakfast was just right a good selection of cooked items I had the full English every morning and enjoyed it thoroughly my wife tried and enjoyed the smoked fish and found it to be very tasty, but the four course evening meal was excellent good choice well cooked and sourced locally, providing fresh meat, fish and vegetables, and even though I am not a big desert fan it was a clean plate every night.

The Hotel was in a great location 10 minutes from Keswick and on the main road to Grasmere and Windermere but if you like walking you can leave the car at the Hotel and walk to Dodd Wood and thence climb Skiddaw Peak. We had a fantastic weekend in the Lakes made very special by the Ravenstone Hotel and its owners and attentive staff, we will be retuning in the not too distant future all being well

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of January. When we arrived we were quickly shown up to jour room - standard size, but the bed is a king size, and there are a selection of duvets available (4.5 9.0 & 13.5 tog) and the bed was very comfy. My only gripe was that when we arrived, the room was freezing and took 24 hours to warm up ( i suspect it hadn't been used for a few days, it should have been warmed up before we arrived though. Flat screen TV in the room (positioned so we could see it easily - something other hotels don't always do) and the bathroom was good - underfloor heated tiles, nice size bath and good shower. My only gripe is the time that the breakfast is served; 8.30 - 9.30 but they will accomodate within reason. the breakfast was nice - all the usual, but the evening meals were better. All in all a nice hotel, I would definately stay again!

We had a very warm welcome from the owners. Despite arriving 10 minutes before dinner was to finish we were urged to take our time and not worry about rushing to order. The room was very clean and modern. The food was amazing, a variety to choose from and all served, again, with no sense of rush. Having stayed in many a B&B in the Lakes with surly owners and grumpy teenage waitresses the Ravenstone was a revelation - cheerful, helpful, well dressed staff couldn't do enough to help. We really felt we'd had a 5 star experience in a 2 star hotel.

Next time you stay we can supply you with bath robes. Wifi is available in the lounge and the bar area but can sometimes be a bit hit and miss due to our location

We really enjoyed our stay, in fact the only thing wrong with it was that we could only stay one night as we would really have liked to have tried more dishes from the evening menu. The menu was interesting and varied and the food was excellent.
We had room 15, a standard room which was very well furnished and very clean, comfortable and warm. The room had obviously been refurbished recently and was very tastefully done.
Breakfast was very good, with a reasonable choice.
The staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient.
