Just stayed for 3 nights at this fantastic place, got to be the best hotel we have stopped at while in the Lake District, mike the owner was just so helpful and accommodating, after a long days walking we just relaxed in the conservatory with a few well earned drinks, don't bother eating out just look at the menu in the restaurant, food was excellent and the staff were very friendly & helpful.
The breakfast menu is very varied and more than good portions, in fact we had the light cooked breakfast and was more than enough, great stay we will be back when next in Keswick

We stayed in the Ravenlodge hotel for four nights last September. It was easy to find, directly off the main road. The parking area is big so we had no problems to find a space. When we were shown to our room we were a bit disappointed at first, because it seemd to be smaller than what we booked. When we spoke to the manager about it he offered to compensate us with a free meal, which we accepted. The room, although small, was nicley decorated and cosy. It was also well heated, which was an important factor as well since the weather wasn't the best. The bathroom however needs some upgrading. It had linoleum on the floor and the shower cubicle and sink just seemed a bit outdated.

The breakfast was very good. We could chose between porridge or a full English breakfast. In addition there were cereals, toast and their home made jams, which were delicious by the way.

The best about this B&B though is its location. It is really like on the pictures that you can find on the internet, including the sheep :-) In general it is a good place for hiking or to explore the lake dstrict by car.

One last thing that I would like to mention is the fact that they have free books and board games for their guests. It came in quite handy since there is not much evening entertainment to be found near the hotel due to its remote location.

Room Tip: standard rooms are very small

This was our first visit and we will definitely be returning . The hotel staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was a pleasant one . The food was out of this world . The room was perfectly clean and comfortable . We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to returning.

This is a brilliant small hotel very close to Brassenthwaite Lake. However Keswick is literally 10mins drive away and is a beautiful town. I recommend taking a car for convenience. The lodge is located in a valley that you pretty much have free rein over. The grounds are enormous and take a while to explore.

The room was smaller than expected but very cosy and anything bigger would have been a waste I feel. Cleanliness is not an issue at all and the entire place has a very homely feel.

The food is of excellent quality, although dinner is quite meagre and we only ate there on occasion because of this.

I would definitely recommend this Lodge and will definitely be visiting again.

Room Tip: I opted for the superior double room, which proved smaller than expected. So I probably would have p...

My fiancee and I stayed recently for a two night stay, and we were both really impressed with every aspect of the hotel.
It is very easy to find, and plenty of parking is available. We arrived slightly early and were greeted by a very pleasant lady called Rachel. She showed us around the hotel and told us about some local walks. We were then shown up to our room (room 7) and it was lovely, cosy and clean with an amazing view. The only downside to the rooms is that you can hear noise from other guests and from the kitchen, but this is to be expected in an old building and fortunately everything was quiet after around 10pm.
There are plenty of nice walks from around the hotel and keswick is only about 10-15 min drive away.
Breakfast is fantastic, with cereals, yogurts, homemade bread to toast, variety of spreads, tea and coffee. You also get to choose which type of cooked breakfast you would like (there is even a vegetarian option which I was very pleased with). Compliments to the chef.
Can't comment on evening meals as the first night we ate out while we were in Keswick and the second day my Mam had booked us afternoon tea at Armathwaite Hall which had us stuffed until the next morning! But if judging by the standard at breakfast I have no doubt the evening meal would be just as tasty.
A special mention must go to Graham as he was just so genuine and friendly :-)
All of the staff we met were lovely and just want what is best for their guests, it felt more like we were staying at a friends house.
It appears that they actually take on board peoples comments, as in a previous review I noticed someone mentioned 'breakfast felt a little awkward and a quiet radio would probably fix this', well there was a radio playing at breakfast when we were there. Also another said 'a box of tissues would be nice', tissues were in our room. Only minor things but it's the little things that count and it's lovely that they have acknowledged the comments, which speaks volumes about the hotel.
We would, without a doubt, reccommend this B&B, and if we are back in the area again we will not think twice about returning :-) thank you for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view. Room 7 has a fab view and larger window.

Ravenstone Lodge - a really super choice. A lovely warm welcome underpinned with a cracking hotel room and delightful food. We were looking for a simple 3 day break with nice facilities and we were absolutely delighted with Ravenstone Lodge in every way. A very handy location, right in the heart of " walking country" but not too far away from Keswick if you needed. No hesitation in giving a full and first class recommendation. Well done.
