We stayed there for 2 nights last week. This place is one of the rare luxury places in South West France and for those looking for top level hotels in historical castles it deserves being strongly recommended, both for the historical atmosphere that was carefully kept and also for the comfort and high level quality one expects in a 5 star place. It is expensive but when you see the place and the rooms you know it is worth it.

We were in room 16, not a suite but still extremely pleasant. Excellent bed, old elegant and charming furniture, much space, very efficient and silent air conditioning, fast wi-fi connection, nice view on the garden. Additional plugs would be welcome but this is the only negative point we could notice about the room. Huge bathroom with big bath tub, shower, etc.

I would also strongly recommend having dinner at Mirambeau. We had a delicious very classical pigeon with peas and an amazing see bass with what they call "water tomato" which was delicious.
Service is good. To the exception of the lady sommelier rather unkind and apparently very bored to be working on that night, the staff is very welcoming and helpful, whatever you ask.

We had a walk outside in the garden and this is where there is still some room for improvement. The immediate surroundings are fine but the car parking would better fit a lodge than a castle and some parts of the castle grounds show ugly precast concrete walls while other places are closed with ordinary metallic fencing. Compared to the many perfect details inside the castle that was surprising but I can understand it takes time (and a lot of money) to upgrade such a big garden.

We will certainly be back as soon as we can.

Room Tip: Room 16 is excellent

We recently spent three nights at the Chateau de Mirambeau and recommend it highly. The building is stunning and the location great with wonderful views. We received a warm welcome and the staff were helpful and friendly at all times. Our room was on the second floor and was spacious with an enormous, light, bathroom. We enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant and in our room, and ate dinner in the restaurant twice. All meals were delicious and well presented and served. If we are ever in the area again we will most definitely return. The General Manager was interested in all feedback and clearly does a great job.

We came at the recommenation of good friends - and it does not disappoint. You are cared for from the time you arrive with water and a rest as your reservation is confirmed and your luggage moved to the room. To the room servicing, to the breakfasts that are lovely in an equisite west facing terrace room, the the 7 course chef's menu. We needed some serious down time after too much work and this place created instant relaxation and unwinding and will prepare us for our next 3 weeks of vacation - we may need to return at the end to prepare for home!

Beautiful chateau and beautiful rooms, grounds were stunning and the restaurant worth a few more visits. Lovely and helpful staff. Although June the outdoor pool was unable to be used as it wasn't warm enough, however the indoors pool is nice, much nicer than in the photos. Highly recommended.

Driving up the driveway at the Chateau Mirmabeau is a sight to behold. A beautiful building with a great setting in a park. A large lawn with a view from the room or the restaurant makes this a worthwhile stop while driving through this region of France. It should be said that the town itself is quite modest and it was quiet on a Sunday afternoon (pretty common in France!).
I have stayed a fair number of Relais properties and this one is certainly well above the standard. The decor is very much in the time of the belle epoque with lots of silk and drapery and and the dining room really has the charm of that era. We were upgraded to a Double Superior room which looked out over the grounds. The internet worked well though poorly in the dining room (intentionally we were told which I must say I appreciated). It was very quiet on our arrival and the General Manage spent a great deal of time showing us around and giving a bit of history of the building and the hotel.
We walked the grounds including the old wall at the moat and they are well maintained. The hotel has a pool indoor and outdoor pool. We did not partake but our colleagues certainly had high praise for the facility.
Breakfast was quite pricey and not stunning though going somewhere else nearby was not really an option. I asked for oatmeal and I was brought a sealed small package of standard oatmeal and boiling water. To be fair we were the first ones in the dining room just as it opened so the chef was not available to do eggs and so on. Still the price/value ratio was not the best.
In contrast lunch and dinner were both outstanding. For lunch I had the lobster tagliatelle and this was simply exquisite. Big chunks of lobster in a wonderful foamed broth and perfectly cooked pasta. My travel companion had the club sandwich with salmon and pronounced it good but not at the same level as my tagliatelle!
We had dinner with another couple and overall this was an equally pleasant experience with just a couple of small hiccups. The staff were very pleasant and helpful in explaining the various dishes and bringing the food. We tried beef tenderloin, cod and sole for main courses and each was well presented and of high quality with wonderful flavour. The filet of beef came with a very interesting mash potato with hay infusion side that was terrific. There were some small issues since the wine and water were placed away from the table but the staff were so busy after each of our courses arrived that we often found ourselves with empty glasses. A second small problem was that the cheese course (Chef's Selection) came cold, clearly right out of the fridge, rather than the usual room temperature when in France. It took a while to warm up enough to enjoy the subtleties of the flavours. We were all pleased with our desserts including some wonderful chocolate tarte and strawberry cake. Overall it was a great meal with just a couple of hiccups.

Room Tip: We were in room 4. I liked the door between the entrance/bathroom and the sleeping area to keep noi...

It costs a lot, but what the hell. You don't arrive at this sort of place very often and you are a long time dead! Been to a few Relais et chateaux properties and this is one of the best. Cracking restaurant- M. Geays oeufs on the menu? Do not miss them.
Staff are a delight: attentive, but with confidence to be engaging without being overbearing.
Minor mistake in the restaurant acknowledged and retrieved with style. Think we will be back.

A beautiful experience and a lovely meal, would definitely return. Small gym and a nice indoor pool, there is an outdoor pool and it's not heated, so even in June could not be used as the weather was not warm enough.
