“A great stay in Korcula”
Reviewed 19 September 2012

The apartments are in a great location right in the old town of Korcula. Pretty basic but really clean and have air conditioning and wi-fi. The owner was really freindly and made us feel very welcome. She does not live onsite so you do not feel like you are intruding! We were in the apartment on the top floor and it was late in the season so did not experience any noise from any of the other apartments. Overall great value for money and I would reccommend to a friend.

Room Tip: Go for the top floor if you don't want any noise from above!

Clean and nice apartment located in the middle of the old town of Korčula. Staff was friendly and nice to have AC and Wi-Fi. Also a nice price for what you get.

Some issues with noise from the other apartments above and below.

Stayed here for 2 nights and thought it good value for money. We booked through the Apartments own website and the accomodation was a lot nicer than we were expecting given the pictures on the site. It is basic and the room and bathroom are small, but we only used it as a base so this was all we needed.
The location was perfect right in the middle of the old town and we had both internet and air conditioning.
When booking you booked a specific room and it was clear which did and didnt have air conditioning.

Room Tip: Read room descriptions to check which have air conditioning

We stayed here for 3 nights on the top floor which was a converted, clean, cosy loft appartment, with a small kitchenette and table for two under white sloping roofs-very romantic! The decor is simple, with parquette floors mixed with some nice stone period features. There's also some interesting photographs on the wall, like a series of weathered doors from the villages around the island as well as some local grafitti! We completely fell in love with the location; in Korcula's old town on a narrow medieval stone street. One end lead up to the main square by the church and the other end lead down to a rocky beach under the stone walls and pine trees, where we went swimming in the morning and had breakfast in one of the cafes. The service was friendly and helpful. Our host (also the photographer of the pictures in the appartment) met us from the ferry and took us to the appartments. She was very welcoming and gave us local advice to help us find our bearings. We also had her mobile number to contact her if we had any queries.
I would reccomend these appartments and they are an excellent base for exploring Korcula town and some of the island.

Room Tip: The top floor is the nicest, most spacious appartment.

The Marco Polo Apartments were, for us, a disappointment. The rooms were small and the "apartments" were a collection of mismatched and inadequate furniture. Our first floor room had no air conditioning, a miniscule shower, and a noisy street window. It was very poorly furnished with minimal towels, thin sheets, . . . well, you certainly wouldn't treat a quest this way! We were promised a receipt which we never got! Saw our "hostess" once but a hurried and minimal intro to the digs and locale. Would I recommend? No. Dio yourself a favor and find a locale that values you and provides a real service.

Room Tip: Do yourself a favor and find a different location!!!

I'm an older traveler with arthritic knees. Edita met us at the ferry, but we had to haul our bags up a stepped street to the apartment in the old town. I would have liked more help with the luggage. She did carry our bags up and down the stairs and moved them downstairs the evening before we left. She was helpful in directing us to a travel agent and making restaurant suggestion. The apartment was simply furnished, the kitchen barely adequate, the shower doors broken, though there were useful drying lines outside the window. Location was right in the middle of the old town. Next time we will be looking for a place which is more accessible with better services. The apartment would be fine for younger travelers.

The only poor experience in Croatia on our trip were the Marco Polo Apartments. The location is superb and the rooms are nice. However, we work while we travel and we specifically requested a room with internet access. Upon our arrival we were informed that the room we were supposed to stay in was not available and we were switched to another house. We asked if it had internet service and were told that there should be free city wi-fi access. After getting our luggage up 2 stories we checked and there was no internet connection available. We were told that we could get a refund or wait until the next day to switch to the room in the house that we actually booked. We chose to do that as it was late in the day and really didn't have another option. Next day we went to check if wi-fi was available in the other room and it was. However, while we were checking we were told: Don't sit on the bed if you're not sure that you will take the room. We thought that was kind or rude and the Edita had a take it or leave it attitude towards us. Didn't offer anything to help our the situation, in contrast with all the other great service we have received while traveling in Croatia...I guess sometimes when you're in a touristy place you can start taking business for granted because you have a great location. However, to us location location is not as important as service. We wanted to work at night so we could enjoy Korcula during the day but couldn't do it and our 2 night stay ended up being a disappointment...
