Stayed here in Oct 2013 - were upgraded Suit which had a balcony. Very spacious, clean, comfortable room with magnificent views.
Reception staff very pleasant & accommodating (Ina) & were happy to help out with very early check-out. They arranged a generous hamper for us in the dining room.
Short, safe walk down to the village area

We hired a car & explored the whole beautiful island of Kortula easily in a day

The only con was:- Strong smell of cigarette smoke in the foyer area.
Busload of Slovenians checked-in who were noisy drinkers & smokers at the bar.
Tip: Make sure you get a room facing the water.

Stayed in this hotel early October 2013, one week. Given second floor room, double, single occupancy.
Nicely carpeted, clean, everything working. Plenty of hot water, room cleaned regularly by friendly lady.
Towels changed when needed.
This room, as with many others, was without balcony, full size French windows, with shutters.
Overlooking pool, with good view of old town as well.
Meals were buffet style, plenty for breakfast, with boiled and scrambled eggs, meat slices and cheese for the Northern Europeans. Not enough fresh fruit though, and both juice and coffee were from a machine; the latter beverage dreadful! (tip here, take your own granulated and use the hot water only) Dinner ( I was half board ) was typical buffet food, at least 2 soup, fish, and meat choices every evening, and often even more, so no complaints. Wait staff were friendly if you were also, so learn the odd word of Croatian and you'll receive a smile or two.
Generally I rate this hotel and staff with 4 stars.

Room Tip: can give no room tips as mine was fine.

My wife says that there are things that you most enjoy looking from the outside. The OLD city of Korcula is best viewed from the hotel Marco Polo which is located on the hill-side overlooking the city with the background of the neighboring Island. The hotel is only 300 meters walk from the city and the view from our spacious room was superb including the OLD city, harbor, sea many sailing ships and the next Island. The room was actually two rooms with a veranda and not expensive for such a suite. The hotel include a nice buffet restaurant and a swimming pool. We stayed for only one night, BUT we wish we could stay a week :-)

Room Tip: Obviously ask for a room with a view to the sea.

When entering the Marco Polo Hotel, I wondered why so many negative reports on Trip Advisor. Our room was small (as we had booked) but spotlessly clean and all public areas looked very good, with excellent views of Corcula old town.
We booked half board option but no one speaks to you in the restaurant, the first evening you wonder if you sit anywhere or you are allocated a table, anywhere is the answer. Some of the facilities offered are closed, Snack Bar ! what Snack Bar. Pool bar closed must have been out of season but the indoor pool was closed because it was not out of season !! The main lobby bar was closed just after 10.00 in the evening, after waiting for 10 minutes the reception/night staff looking at me standing there did not bother to inform me of the closure. The good news was the room mini bar was cheaper than the main bar !!!
If you leave the hotel after dark don't use the steps as the lights were not working on the bottom half. The reception said it was the responsibility of Hotel Park next door, but they did not fix the problem.
We enjoyed the holiday, but it is a shame the hotel does not communicate or have a visual manager.
