My girlfriend and I just stayed a weekend here. Golden Bay is a beautiful place with heaps of interesting things to see and do. On the way over Takaka hill I got dropped off at Canan Downs and mountain biked the Rameka Track, which is 800m vertical descent on fun singletrack through a mixture of native and plantation forest finishing near the town of Takaka. We then went to the beach for a swim, then to Zatori to stay the night. Zatori has a range of rooms catering for different budgets, and we got a plush queen room with ensuite which was very comfortable. The room has it's own personal deck looking out over the Collingwood Estuary and to Farewell spit and the views are just amazing, especially sunrise and sunset which you can see from right outside your door. We had dinner at the Mussell Inn, a small craft brewery/hotel which is a couple of minutes up the road. Tracy from Zatori is very friendly and keen to share her local knowledge, she knows all the good spots to go. There is also has a range of kayaks and paddle boards that you can use for free in the sheltered waters of the estuary which is right out the front. We took a double kayak out for a paddle in the morning which was great before hitting the spectacular beach at Wharariki - though I wished we'd gotten there earlier in the day because the afternoon wind was fierce. All in all it was a great weekend which has left me wanting to see more of this fantastic little corner of the world. I'm a keen mountain biker and have booked in to ride the Heaphy track with some mates. A muddy mid-winter ride is best finished by cleaning up somewhere warm then enjoying a beverage in the hot tub, and Tracy offered to pick us up from the end of the track so I'll definitely be staying here again the way back.

Room Tip: My girlfirend and I got a queen room with ensuite which was awesome, especially with the views to the North. But next time when I'm back with the guys we'll probably just get a bunk room to save a few $$$. The whole place has central heating which is even connected to the towel rails! It was toasty at night.

Room Tip: 共同キッチン近くの部屋は、他のゲストの声が気になる場合があるかもしれません。そのときのゲスト次第ですね…静かなのはメイン棟の部屋ですが、共同キッチンまでの距離が遠くなります。
