This is our second time at this resort, we really enjoyed it. Service is excellent. The first place ( Las Palmas ) i wrote a negative review, no longer exist.

Room Tip: Italian Village, restaurants are closer.

As much as my wife and I have traveled, this place remains one of my favorites and is absolutely her favorite! Not easily reached from the airport, but if you arrive by plane and can put your mind into island time then the drive is pleasant enough. The location of Whitehouse on the south side of the island gave me an opportunity to see a part of Jamaica that I probably would not have seen otherwise. I was pleasantly surprised. The large beach gave us plenty of opportunities to feel completely alone as the only tourists there were staying at the same resort. The staff was very well trained to accomodate any needs we had with a good attitude. The management seemed to have placed an importance on setting this resort apart from it's competitors. The grounds are immaculate, the rooms are very well done, and the facilities are superb. Although we did venture out into the surrounding areas by car, we would have been completely satisfied had we stayed on the grounds of the resort the entire trip. A very romantic place for couples. We stayed on a ground floor room where I slipped out the sliding glass doors onto our patio and found myself not 50 feet from the most private pool on the property. Walking around the pool and down 4 steps led to the beach. There are too many places to see on this earth for me to return there, but if I had to choose one place again, this may be it.

We loved the resort. The grounds were BEAUTIFUL!! Our room was OK, but it was also a basic room without concierge service or butler, but it was still nice! We definitely know that next time we go we will stay in a butler room! Food was good, typical inclusive-type food. I was just most impressed with the staff and how welcome they made us feel. Eventhough we didn't have a concierge or butler, they still made us feel just as important. One night they went out of their way to give us complimentary room service (and room service was not included in our level of room). It was awesome! Then we purchased a "Candlelight Dinner" on the beach and that was my favorite part of the trip! Very lovely!! Also recommend doing a sunset catamaran cruise!! It was another favorite thing to do!! Highly recommend this resort or any other Sandals!!

Room Tip: I would spend a little more and get a butler room! Our room was still nice though and we had great views of the ocean!

Bottom line:
this was the best vacation and most romantic getaway experience we have had. It was worth every penny and Sandals delivered on its advertising of this resort experience! I would do it again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone on a honeymoon or celebrating an anniversary. Also it is very safe. Just FYI it seems as though all the rooms here have an ocean view regardless of the village. August seems like the best time to go because it is less crowded. This entire resort is VERY clean… they are always cleaning!
--Men bring dress pants it is part of the dress code for dining-in the evening.

Airport:
The airport lounge/reception was very accommodating. The Sandals representatives were very pleasant and the experience starts there. The Sandals lounge stands out from others with added luxury… there were beverages available including Red Strip beer for the bus ride ;-)

Bus Ride:
The bus ride was quite the experience. It is not bad but it’s about one and a half hours (can be a little more if downtown traffic is hectic). Once you get passed the downtown area and up the mountains is where all the bad roads start. In the end our driver got us there safely; driver’s and locals look out for one another on the roads.

Reception at Sandals:
Once you step foot off of that bus you are greeted with a welcoming smile, a cool towel, and a Jamaican cocktail. The check-in process is very quick and the stress starts to melt away once you enter the Sandals reception area.

Room:
We originally booked the Beachfront Honeymoon Penthouse Concierge Suite (which would’ve been on the 4th floor.) But we were upgraded for free to another Concierge suite that included an extra room!
----I personally do not see the need for butler service unless that’s how you live at home. If you book a room with concierge it entitles you to 24/7 free room service for food and mini bar/fridge that can be refilled at any time (includes bottled Red Stripe beer, champagne, wines, rum, waters, and other beverages)
---We ordered breakfast to our room and ate it on the patio with a breathtaking view of the ocean every morning (all included).

The room itself was great. It was very spacious we had a bedroom area and a separate living area. The Jacuzzi was great. The views the room, the living room, and the oversized patio area were all just amazing! It was very quiet and we slept very well. We’re glad we didn’t get the 1st floor rooms just seemed to not offer as much privacy. The comfort of the bed was not what you would expect for the price, I feel that the comfort level and the sheets are better at a Hampton Inn.

The Villages:
There were three villages the French, Dutch, and Italian villages. The Dutch and Italian offer the rooms with added luxury. We stayed in the Dutch and to me it was the best for our style. The beach area in front and the Dutch pool were very private and it was more of the “couples” area (not the party area). You find what you like and go from there.

The Beach:
The beach is beautiful. We saw giant starfish in the water. It is very clean and the sand is soft and white. We loved going in for a dip in the beach water. They did have a lot of seaweed scattered throughout (Sandals did cordon off areas without any of it to offer just white water). The only downfall is you can’t go far out (deep)….but to be honest it didn’t make a difference to us. There were plenty of lounging chairs on the beach available including ones under cabanas.

The pools:
offered in every village with different themes so it seems everyone had their preference where to hang out. We preferred the Dutch pool. It was very private and a lot of the mature couples hung out there. It was very relaxing to just lay out on the floats. The water was always very clean. Also there is a hot-tub in every pool area.

The restaurants:
Unfortunately we did not take advantage of all the restaurants. The atmosphere in the ones we did eat were all very pleasant, rich, and just very romantic. Bayside always offers buffet style for both breakfast and lunch (you can’t go wrong if you’re a picky eater). There is a restaurant by the French Village pool that offers Jamaican cuisine and it’s a great option for lunch. Try the Jamaican burger with jerk sauce! The jerk chicken is also appetizing. The Italian restaurant is very nice! Just check the meat for being properly cooked anywhere you eat (they seem to undercook it).

The entertainment:
Every evening they drop off a copy of their “daily breeze” newsletter describing the sequence of events for the next day. Everything is listed from morning yoga, snorkeling, dining menus, and nightly entertainment. During our first night there was a group singing on the main pool which was a very fun experience. At “La Cabaret” they had a couples game that was just hilarious! My favorite night was reggae night because of the bonfire on the beach. We got there early and managed to get two seats and listened to one of the most wonderful live classical guitar music playing romantic songs by the moonlight on the beach! My wife and I danced to many of his songs…it was so nice.

Photography:
We celebrated our anniversary. Throughout the entire time on the resort they have photographers out taking pictures of you. They give you tags that you can hold on to and on the last day we ended up viewing everything including our courtesy photo shoot pictures. In the end we had 100 pictures we ended up paying $295 for all of them on a DVD. It was well worth it they capture so many great memories. The photographers did a great job of capturing just the right moments of when we were being romantic.

The Spa:
It was very nice. My ea is very comfortable and includes a dry and wet sauna. The massage itself was well worth it (do not get the firm unless you are an Olympic athlete). The spa itself has its own hot-tub and cold-tub. The hot tub temperature was scalding hot but it felt good!wife has been to spas but I never had. It is very relaxing and my wife says it’s a very good spa. Their changing room was awesome. They have a shower with 6-8 shower heads. Their waiting area is very comfortable and includes a dry and wet sauna. The massage itself was well worth it (do not get the firm unless you are an Olympic athlete). The spa itself has its own hot-tub and cold-tub. The hot tub temperature was scalding hot but it felt good!

I could go on forever but will end it here. Every minute of this trip was amazing. “No worries mon”

PS: For your return flight, make sure there are at least two hours in between connecting flights to allow you time to make it through immigration and customs.

Other reviewers do a wonderful job at explaining Whitehouse.. I hope the easy to read tips can help future couples have a great time!

Customs:
- No problems at all with customs, easy. Will have a form to fill out on the plane ride in but no big deal. Try and check as much stuff as possible because customs lines are long, and you don't want to have a lot of stuff on you for the wait. There will be another line after you get your checked bags, but not as long.

Ride:
- Pack in your checked luggage some hard liquor to mix with soda/juice you can purchase at the Montego Bay Airport. It will make your 90 minute drive in very enjoyable (what potholes? - LOL)
- Use the restroom in the Sandal's Lounge before you leave
- Use restroom at Rumba rest stop, a little under halfway to resort.
- Rumba rest stop has souvenirs a little cheaper than at resort, so do your shopping there before or after
- Whitehouse is the fishing capital of Jamaica; you will see lots of local fisherman, and shrimpers on your way and at resort.

Arrival:
- Tip your driver (he had some work avoiding potholes, slowing down for bad spots, and entertaining or answering questions. They don't work for Sandal's
- Ask where the restroom is as soon as you arrive- you will take about 15 minutes checking in
- Feel free to upgrade room during check-in (we upgraded from Deluxe to Concierge, then asked to see Butler Suite and upgraded again - well worth it!)

Resort:
- Bring white clothes for White Night (every Wednesday night)
- Have roaming photographers take lots of pics for you to choose from later... you don't have to buy them, but they have quotas for amount to take each day. At the very least, you will have a wide selection to choose from to buy at the end of your trip.
- On Friday's the resort welcomes local craftsmen to sell their goods on the resort grounds. You can haggle your way to a good deal. They can smell a sucker a mile away so don't back down on a lower price. Or say you will pay the price they are asking if they throw something extra in. You have the power here. Wood carvings can be personalized while you wait
- ANYTHING you want, just ask... the staff go out of their way to make it a romantic and memorable trip. If there is a want or concern just raise it and they take extra efforts to make it happen.
- Carry with you a "no worries' attitude... Jamaicans are not known for being prompt. 10:00 departure means everyone begins showing up at 10:00. no worries! just have fun.
- The rooms have i-pod/i-phone docs... it was fun jamming to music while we got ready.
- Opt for the butler suite - well worth the money. Drinks and snacks bought to you while relaxing on the beach, reservations made for you at restaurants for dinner, order room service off the menu anytime, personal phone to call butler for any need from 7am-10pm, could personalize the liquor selections we had in our full-size in room bar. Treated like royalty!
- The staff are all absolutely AMAZING... our butler Kamar (great!) told us all persons working there had to go through extensive background screenings and it was very competitive to get in (imagine 800 Jamaican applicants for 4 open jobs). So appreciate the fact that you are surrounded by the cream of the crop Jamaicans working there.

Food/Drink:
- Bring your own drink bottles/thermoses - bartenders will fill them up for you with whatever you like and will allow you less trips back and forth to the bar. Also, if you have a deluxe room (without a bar, like the concierge or butler suites) you can take pure alcohol back to your room to make your own mixes.
- Bring your own Margarita mix if that is your drink of choice, the bars at the resort have a time making them - there is no mixer or sweet/sour available. They try to make a good margarita with tequila, triple sec, and lime juice, but it is an epic fail! Gold star for trying!
- Enjoy breakfast on your patio some mornings.. it is a great way to being your day looking at paradise.
- Don't be afraid to ask bartenders to add something to your drink to make it taste better - all the drinks they make are STRONG, so have them add to it if it proves too much.
- Cafe de Paris is a must! Ask for a to-go treat bag when you are leaving resort for excursions or trip back to airport!
- When you order dinner don't be afraid to order 2-3 things off the menu. My husband has 2 filets at Eleanor’s, I had the Salmon and Penne at Giuseppe’s, we ordered all the desserts at Neptune’s. No regrets on not being able to taste something that looked good to you! it is all included!
- Bring Tylenol for those mornings after drinking - nuff said!

Beach:
- Beach is friendly to European travelers, don't mind women being topless, so enjoy!
- No problem with Sand fleas at all! We bought Off with 98% deet but never opened it.
- They spray for sand fleas a little after midnight and again before sunrise; in case you are having a romantic beach rendezvous on the beach under the stars at that time. If you hear a motor, then get outta there, the workers are not wearing gas masks for nothing!
- The locals don't call them starfish because they don't swim - the Sea Stars are very abundant, but lie on the ocean floor... We found 5 in a few minutes just lying on the sand bottom, you have to go down and bring them up, but their beauty is well worth it! Photo Op!
- Crabs are abundant too, don't come out till after sunset for the most part. And are very friendly, they pose for pictures!
- Pete moss grows in the water - totally safe. But you will notice it.

Spa:
- We opted for a couples massage in a cabana on the beach - and think we were the only ones all week that did so. This is not offered on the "menu" of spa services, but we wanted it and they accommodated. We felt like royalty as other couples remarked as they strolled by the beach cabana seeing us getting our rub-downs. It was awesome and soooo relaxing! Goes back to if you want it, just ask and they will make it happen!
- Bring a swimsuit to the Spa as they have a hot and cold bath available in the outside courtyard, not a lot of folks utilized this.
- They also have steam rooms and saunas available.

Activities/Excursions:
- Schedule water sports at the Resort for early in the day... if there is wind or rain in the afternoons, they will cancel activities. Also, they fill up quick so try to get them scheduled early in your trip.
- Bring water shoes and sunscreen, they are available for purchase at Resort but you will have to pay for the convenience.
- The rooms have safes - use them, especially on off-resort excursions. The staff doesn’t tell you to leave your expensive jewelry at the resort when you leave for excursions for no reason.
- If you are brave on off-Resort excursions, ask your bus-driver to stop to sample the local's fare - they sell shrimp, fish, and other fresh foods on the side of the road... I say brave because there is a chance it will revisit you if you are not used to eating foods outside the country.
- YS Falls is like a resort in itself, you can go there to eat, drink and relax in the pool, or you can pay for activities like river tubing or zip line. Taking pics while in the falls is a must! And you can also play on the rope swings.
- The Black River tour is for those less active, very informative but kind of slow. We were fortunate to have a tour guide who made it a little exciting by kissing crocodiles, but other than that, this was more like a sightseeing tour.
- The Appleton Rum Tour was great - just go! At the end of tour you have an open bar to taste like 22 different flavors of rum.
- Bring tip money for the excursions.
- You learn ALOT from the tour guides - about real Jamaican life. And they are open to questions. You will learn about housing, industry, infrastructure, laws, education, etc.

Hope this review was helpful to those going soon! Enjoy your trip and NO WORRIES MON!
