We have traveled quite a bit in the past 45 years and we wanted someplace special where we could celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Our daughter suggested Sandals White House since they were there 2 times and 2 times at another Jamaican Sandals, but they liked SWH the best. We booked SWH for 7 days and had a fantastic time. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We booked again next year at SWH. GREAT VACATION! The bartenders Fletcher, Romeo and Troy at the Martini Bar were great. They knew how to make our favorite martinis, Bombay Sapphire extra dry up with olives. Also, we enjoyed the orientation which was very helpful. You can go either in the morning or later in the afternoon. They showed us where everything was around the resort. We also enjoyed the garden tour. Oshoi was very knowledgeable and we had a great tour as he pointed out the various palm trees, flowers and plants and at the end of the tour you had a very lovely bouquet of the flowers which he clipped during the tour. Hope this short review will help anyone planning a trip to Sandals White House.

Room Tip: We stayed at the Dutch Village. It was quieter at the pool. The other villages have water activitie...

For the sixth time this resort has once again proved its weight in gold. Each time we visit there's something new in addition to the impeccable experience we previously had. Even at 100% capacity this resort is as good as it gets for the all inclusive relaxing vacation. There's too much to list so I'll just say that if you find something wrong with this resort it's probably you and not the resort. Errol at the main pool is one of the most incredible of the staff and goes above and beyond every day. I can't wait to get back to see my man Errol!

Never having stayed at all inclusive a with the exception of business travel for conferences, I was a bit nervous and envisioned a cruise ship atmosphere on land (never been on a cruise ship, never had any desire). Well, all my fears were for naught! This was a great experience! The room was a little bit like "hey the 90s called and they want their decor back" - but I quickly got over that! We had a walk out beachfront club level room. The bathroom was small and dark. Bed was really comfy. Not much time in the room. We were in the Dutch Villa, having changed rooms immediately after seeing our first assigned room in the Italian section, which had an ocean view only if peeking around the HVAC and pool filter units...

We had no problem getting beach chairs and sun umbrella, but we did put our towels out early. We were usually at the beach by 9-9:30. It is true some premium spots were taken earlier only to have people show up hours later. We also liked the pool in the Dutch section. Quiet, low key; no swim up bar or volleyball net. We witnessed numerous small weddings, which was kind of fun.

The food - superb. We tried all the restaurants and they were great. The portion size was fantastic. And by that I mean the plate was appropriate for one person instead of enough to feed a family of five.

Activities were low key for us. We took the hobie cat out whenever we could, and walked a lot. My husband used the gym and said it was very good. I swam a lot in the sea, and we did a snorkel trip once which wasn't the best, but if you like to snorkel it was better than nothing!

And the service was the best Ive ever had in the Caribbean, and this includes five star places like the Ritz and Caneel Bay...

Room Tip: If you want to float in the ocean, bring your own blow up raft as you cannot take the pool ones. Th...

Date of visit: May 26-31 2014

Be prepared for an hour and a half shuttle ride from Montego Bay. Shuttle is free and quite scary! The roads are filled with pot holes and other speeding vehicles. Roadway is very narrow (18 feet wide). Once you arrive you will be treated like a celebrity. They greet you with a cold towel so you can wipe the sweat off of your face from the shuttle ride. Someone will show you to your room and transport your bags. They will also provide a short tour of the resort if you wish.

Rooms: We stayed in a Honeymoon Beachfront Walkout room in the Dutch Village. We first noticed how clean and cool the room was. There was a king sized bed and it was pretty comfortable. Bathroom and shower were similar to a normal hotel room in size. There were very nice Spanish inspired mosaics in the bathroom. There was also no carpet in the room. There was a nice sized flatscreen TV, but most of the channels were blurry. Mini fridge in the room with water, coke, juice, etc... They have a turn-down service which was nice. Also, the first night we came back from dinner to find a cold bottle of champagne with two glasses waiting on our bed.

VERY IMPORTANT- There are no beach walkout rooms at this resort. Beach walkout simply means ground floor.

Beach/Pools: The color of the water is incredible. Very clear! Beaches are not wide, but have very nice brown sand. Trees and bushes mixed in on the beach gives a very natural feel. There are rocks and coral in the water just off of the beach. I would advise bringing water shoes if you plan on entering the ocean. Towels, chairs, umbrellas are provided on the beach and pools. All chairs are FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. Get out early and place a towel over the chair(s) you wish to reserve.

Pools are huge and very clean. The main pool (Riviera Pool) is the largest and has a swim-up bar with large drink menu. The main pool is the most crowded and contains the "wild bunch" of the resort. Go to the main pool to get drunk and have a party with a large number of people. The Dutch pool is the smallest and the quietest. Bar located outside of the pool area (short walk). Renaissance Pool is the medium sized pool and also has as a swim-up bar. Good place for a mix of party life and relaxation. All pools have hot tubs attached.

Food: For the most part the food was very good. Eleanor's was by far the best place to eat and we found Jasmine's to be our least favorite. Bayside has a buffet for both breakfast and lunch. Both were very good. For breakfast at Bayside you can expect: fresh fruit, delicious pastries, local favorites, and an omelet station that is fantastic. There is also a "Jerk Pit" that serves Pork and Chicken with jerk sauce. The Jerk Pit was fantastic. Just remember, if you cant decide what to eat, order it all!!!! I advise trying each restaurant at least once and Eleanor's as many times as you can!!

Nightlife: The resort provides some type of entertainment each night. You can also go to the Martini Bar for very strong drinks and a fun atmosphere. Martini Bar is open until 2am. Some pool bars close at 6pm. Others at 9pm and 1am.

Activities: If you plan to enjoy the water activities just remember they are first come first serve. Sign up for snorkeling the day before you plan to go. Sign up for the 10am trip because most of the afternoon events get cancelled due to high winds and rough water. The same goes for sailing, paddle boards, etc... GO EARLY!!!! If you wait until the afternoon it may be too late.

Complaints: Don't call it a beachfront walkout room when the room does not walkout to the beach. While eating in restaurants, wait times for drinks can be LONG. I found it much faster to get up and order the drink myself from the bar. They also tend to make the drink stronger if you order it verses the staff ordering for you. There are also photographers and spa workers walking around the resort during the day. The photographers will harass you until you let them take your picture. The spa workers harass you to book a massage.

I give this resort an 8.5 out of 10 when all things are considered. I felt like I got what I paid for and have already planned a return trip for next year. I hope this review helps you while attempting to decide which Sandals Resort to choose.

We stayed at Sandals Whitehouse from May 9-15. It was our first time there and our 2nd time at a Sandals. I have to say, this resort was hands down the best we've experienced. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and walking around was peaceful and relaxing. One bonus to this resort were the peacocks that walked around freely -- they really stole the show!

THE ROOM: We booked a beachfront club level suite and stayed in the Italian village. The room was very nice, spacious, comfortable and clean with high-quality wood furnishings. Everything was in good working condition. No complaints.

THE SERVICE: The service at this resort was outstanding. Of course there's always going to be a few that have an attitude, but most were eager to please. From check-in to waiters and bellmen, most all were very accommodating and pleasant. Since we had a concierge room, we had extra service and perks, along with a daily stocked mini bar. I'd like to give a big thank you to Kadian who really made us feel welcome and special. She is truly a joy.

THE FOOD: The food was pretty good, ranging from just Ok to outstanding. Our favorite restaurant by far was Giuseppe's Italian -- their dinner entrees were to die for. However, just a heads up, we ordered pizza for lunch once and had to wait 25 mins. as they were also serving people at the pool. The breakfasts we found to be just Ok, nothing special. Most of the lunches we had were just Ok as well. We did, however, love the French bakery 'Cafe de Paris' for scrumptious bite size treats during the day. The beach party was awesome and served food from all the different restaurants. And the Select Guest dinner we were invited to as returning guests was just extraordinary.

THE DRINKS: One of the best parts! This resort had consistently great drinks at every bar (except for one drink from one bartender). Premium liquors served... the hubby was very happy. My favorite was called Pink Paradise. The martini bar had by far the most entertaining bartenders, with great drinks to match. I'd like to give a big shout out to our buddies Romeo, who can mix drinks on top of his head, and Troy, aka Michael Jackson. So talented!!

THE ENTERTAINMENT: Most evenings there would be a phenomenal show at the amphitheater. Otherwise the nightly entertainment would be by the beach and usually pretty good. There were activities and trivia games at the pool during the day as well.

THE ACTIVITIES: We enjoyed using the sailboats and paddle boarding and my husband enjoyed water skiing. The glass bottom boat tour was kind of lame, especially since you had to reserve it a day in advance and had only 2 time slots per day. The snorkeling was so-so, mainly because the coral wasn't much to see, in my opinion. But it was a fun way to spend part of the day. We only did one off-site excursion and it was to the YS Falls and Appleton Rum Factory. Each were well worth seeing and experiencing. Our guide was awesome. I highly recommend the tour.

We also had a couples massage since our reservation came with a spa credit. The ladies did a wonderful job and my husband really enjoyed it (he usually refuses to get them). It really hit the spot on a day when our muscles were sore. Very relaxing.

One last thing I have to say is that I was horrified to read the reviews of other guests about the resort being essentially locked down due to the roads being blocked by protesters just 4 days after we left. This is very disturbing. Yes, the roads to the resort are in bad need of repair. I hope that Sandals can find some kind of solution to this problem as it is only going to turn people away. What a dilemma for them. Perhaps they could negotiate lower prices for the helicopter rides for guests to opt for that mode of transportation to the resort.

Aside from the road problems, I would return to this wonderful resort in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Suites have a little more room but you don't spend much time in them anyway!

We had a fantastic stay in SWH May 26-30 2014. This was our first Sandals experience although we have been to several all inclusives. In our opinion, paying extra for a club level suite is so worth it! When we got off the bus on arrival, we were immediately escorted to Club Sandals while everyone else had to sit and wait in the main lobby. There we were offered a snack and drinks while we checked in.

We had a fully stocked bar in our room which was nice because we could enjoy a glass of champagne or a Red Stripe on our balcony in the evenings prior to dinner. Also, the free wifi was convenient.

The other reviews on here are spot on in the beauty of the scenery, the peacefulness of the private beach, the friendliness of all the staff, and the deliciousness of the food so I won't go into all that.

We missed most of the nightly entertainment but did do the Appleton Estate rum tour while we were there. It was very cool and informative. Highly recommended. The one event we tried to attend was the Club level martini night. We got an invitation a couple of hours before and headed down to enjoy it... Only there was no martini night on the lawn. We walked all around and never found it. That was a little disappointing but not terrible.

The only other negative was completely minor. We went to shower our last night there and found it to be broken. We called concierge and they said they would have the engineer come fix it. Instead of wait, we went and walked on the beach. We came back over an hour later and it still wasn't fixed. So we called again and not 15 minutes later, the engineer fixed it.

I can't say much for snorkeling as our tour was cancelled due to red flag conditions (weather). Nothing anyone can do about that! Overall, an excellent vacation and we are sold on Sandals!
