“Whitehouse WOW”
Reviewed 15 April 2007

This is our third Sandals vacation, and while we have loved each of them, the Whitehouse is far superior to any others we've been to. The layout is very impressive. The massive swimming pool with the swim up pool offered lots of fun times, but the pool in the Dutch village offered quiet time when we wanted that. The beach was absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed early morning walks along the shoreline, in addition to taking out the catamaran, waterskiing, kyaking, etc. We participated in the many activities offered by Sandals and enjoyed fabulous food. The quality, presentation, and variety was exquisite. This is the best vacation we've ever had. It was wonderful to wake up and look out our balcony at the ocean as all rooms have an ocean view. We felt like we got an excellent vacation for the money as they were making great "deals" to attract visitors for the opening of the Whitehouse. We would love to go back, but will have to wait for the price to go down again.

This was the best resort and most relaxing trip I've ever taken. I was a little concerned with the bus trip from the airport being a 2 hour ride but it turned out it wasn't bad at all. Our bus driver was great and we made a stop at a little shop/bar where you could use the restroom, get a cold drink and purchase little gifts if you wanted. It was also interestering to see the mountainous parts of the country. When we pulled into the resort it was like paradise. We were greeted by the friendly Sandals welcoming staff who immediately wanted us to get settled into our rooms and really begin our stay. The resort was beautifully landscaped and our room had a spectacular view. And I can't say enough about the entire staff. The customer service throughout the entire resort was excellant and everyone went out of their way to be friendly and say hello, how are you today? I will definately go back again and would highly recommend this resport to others.

This was the most incredible vacation. I have traveled all over the world and this by far was my best vacation. I have never been treated like such royality. The staff at the Whitehouse made the trip worth it alone. They were so friendly and obviously there to please you. The resort was exceptionally clean. The food was outstanding and the activities were fun. It was nice to be able to be involved in activitites if we wanted but sit and relax by ourselfs if we didn't want to participate. One of the things we enjoyed most was the relaxing quiet enviroment when we wanted it, but there was always something to do and have fun if we wanted. We will be returning to the Whitehouse with in a year.

It's been almost a year now since our return from our honeymoon in Jamaica at the Whitehouse, but the memories are still as fresh as if it were yesterday. That is how extraordinary our trip was.
After we booked our trip, we decided to look up reviews and see what others had to say about our destination, and to be truthful, we got a little concerned. We read mixed reviews and even contacted our travel agent because this trip just had to be perfect, after all it was our honeymoon.
Upon our arrival, all our fears were put to rest. From the very moment we stepped off the shuttle from the airport we knew we made the right choice. The staff treated us like Royalty and catered to our every whim. Greeting us with champagne and refreshments check in was a tropical breeze. Our luggage was whisked off to our suite and after a brief overview of the essential "need to know" information we closely followed.
The suite was everything we expected and so much more. The brochure just doesn't do it justice. The view from the balcony was breathtaking, the king size bed more comfortable than ours at home and the Jacuzzi bath was exquisite.
Thinking I was going home with hundreds of mini bottles from the mini bar, I just had to check it out, and much to my surprise, it was stocked with top shelf full size bottles of everything I could possibly want, and if it wasn't there, just ask and it will be! Guess my suitcase wasn't going to be filled with mini bottles on the way home, however we did make some great purchases at the airport prior to our departure, which is where we recommend you purchase any liquor. The price was as cheap if not cheaper than in town and everything was packaged for travel for us.
The food at the resort was unbelievable! Dinning became more and more difficult due to the choices offered. Every night it was "which one do we choose?" We do recommend that you make reservations the night before so that you do not have to wait on a table. Note, if the smoked swordfish appetizer is available, you have to try it. It's just out of this world! Be sure to dress appropriately for dinner or you will not be seated and each restaurant has different attire, depending on what you like.
The activities were always happening and will keep you wishing your trip was to never end and that there were more hours in the day/night. We ate, drank and danced away the nights long into the wee hours of the morning. My wife decided to get her diving certification while there being as I was a Commercial Diver for 15 years and already certified. The dive shop was great and the staff accommodated me by letting me sit in on her class so that I would know she was being trained correctly. After her first class and dive I knew I had nothing to worry about. The dive boat was modern, clean and fast to get you to the dive sites. The diving was great and she got to see a giant sea turtle which amazed her.
The other water sports offered filled up our daytime adventures. We sailed the Hobiecats etc... and we heavily recommend lots of sunscreen (SPF30 or up) unless you are use to the tropical sun. Remember you are closer to the equator and the sum is much more direct!
Each night is a different theme night and just pace yourself and you will have a great time. Don't try and do it all the first day as it is impossible. It took me 3 days to remember where my room was! But there was always a smiling face to point me in the right direction. I would always get lost on the way back from the martini bar, but that's a story for another time.
Well I just can't say enough about how great our trip was. We have memories that will last a lifetime and we will cherish always. We will return to Sandals Whitehouse hopefully next year for another week in paradise, until then we just turn on our computer and gaze at the screen saver full of pictures we have to remind us of what a beautiful honeymoon we had.
Hope this helps someone who is considering going to Jamaica!

The only bad thing about the trip to Sandals Whitehouse is the drive from the airport. A 90 minute trip over narrow roads ina small mini bus. Once there all your troubles are forgotten. The property is spread out enough that you can feel isolated if you want or take a short walk on the beach to the heart of the excitement. I'm a diver and although the diving was so so, the dive staff was the best by far. Sandals Whitehouse runs a strict, clean dive boat. The dive masters are polite but take their charge seriously. We had the pleasure to dive with the G.M. Jeremy Jones, a master diver in his own rights.
The entire staff was courteous and efficient. My only criticism is that our room did not have a refrigerator. At an all inclusive (especially the luxury all inclusive) every room should have a refrigerator. A cold bottle of water is a refreshing necessity late night and early morning.

This was our fourth time in Jamaica, all the other times were at SuperClubs Lidos. We heard about Sandals Whitehouse when a local Toronto radio station took a group of winners there and raved about the place.
We arrived at Montego Bay 2 hours late (standard for Air Canada) and hit rush hour traffic and rain. The trip through the mountains in the rain and dark over very rough roads was not so great. Instead of the one hour we had been told, it took 2 hours and 20 minutes. We arrived in pouring rain and received a terrible reception. We were told nothing could happen until the rain stopped as all the bellboys were out and sheltering from the rain. We walked to the restaurant in the pouring rain and found that there was a minimum of a half hour wait before we could be seated! We waded back to the lobby and after my wife had a fit were finally driven to our room and promised food in the room. The key did not work when we got there but a passing maid let us in. The food arrived (spiced beans and rice) but we were so hungry we were glad of anything.

The resort is beautiful and all the rooms are very nice with ocean views. We found the food to be edible and well presented but mediocre. Definitely not 5 star. The service varied from amazing to zero. When you arrive at the restaurant there are 5 people to help you but once you get your main course try to find someone to bring you dessert and coffee and they all disappear.

The worst food and service was at the Arizona where everything tasted like warmed-over, fried TexMex and the service was very slow.

The Cafe de Paris was ok but I don't understand why anyone would rave over the pastries as they were, at best, bland .

I had read that one of the restaurants offered unlimited lobster but we asked at all of them and were told that "they used to but now only offer on "special occasions". We never saw anything approximating a steak or roast beef or pork chops etc. Lots of Jamaican food and Jamaican style Italian/Chinese/Thai but not much memorable. I had a Penne Arrabiata at Giuseppes that tasted like it came straight from a can with a little spice added.

On our last day they told us to be in the lobby for noon so we went back after breakfast to pack and found the key had been deactivated early. Walked all the way back to the front desk and fixed that. Arrived at noon with others wondering where bus was. Didn't you know your plane is 2 hours late so you don't leave til 2pm?
Arrived at airport to find Air Canada no longer has use of a lounge for Business class. Wandered around for 2 hours and went home. Discovered from friends that Sandals has a lounge at Montego Bay but nobody told us!

Could have been a wonderful holiday with a few minor changes but I think we will go back to SuperClubs who understand that you expect more for $3000 a person.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we came back and told everyone about it! A friend of ours got married and used our travel agent and booked a resort in Jamaica as well and their experience was just as breath taking as ours. We loved being pampered and treated like royality, we are planning another trip in 2008!!!!
