“Family friendly home in West Cork”
Reviewed 25 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We (six adults and a baby) stayed here for wedding in nearby Clonakilty. The local village of Roscarberry is a gem in itself, with West Cork at its doorstep. The house is remarkably well equipped with everything a family might need for a long or short break. We were provided, without hesitation, a cot, high chair and stair gate for baby's needs.
A most helpful attitude and understanding from the owner made our arrival and departure and indeed our stay a very pleasant experience and would entice us back again.

“Perfect! Well positioned and equiped cottage”

We stayed at the property as a family with our dog for 10 days for a holiday and family wedding. The property was ideally equipped with everything we could have wanted from washing machine and dryer to wifi and I can honestly say I have never stayed in a holiday rental with as much crockery! The furniture was good quality and overall the cottage was clean and homely.
Various members of the family visited during our stay and all commented about how nice it was and how it compared favourably to other properties in the area, including where some of them were staying.
The owners were friendly and helpful and replied quickly to messages but were not in your face and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property or indeed stay there again.

“Fantastic Holiday Home”
Reviewed 4 August 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We stayed in Serpentine Road during the last week in June as an extended family of adults kids and grandparents. We had a great week and found the house to be very well equipped with everything you could need including beach toys for the kids. The house is very comfortable with large bedrooms and there is plenty of room for everyone to relax. We found Rosscarbery to be a perfect base for exploring other areas being so central to Clonakilty and Skibbereen. We even got to Sherkin Island for a visit which we all really enjoyed. Noirin and her family were a pleasure to deal with and always very helpful with any questions we had. All in all we had a memorable enjoyable week and would definitely return to Serpentine Road again in the future. Thanks for a great week!!

“Fantastic family holiday in beautiful Rosscarbery”
Reviewed 31 August 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This was our second visit to Serpentine Road Rosscarbery - we had stayed for a week last August also and enjoyed the house so much we came back in June of this year. This is a great house for a family holiday with a large comfortable and well equipped kitchen opening onto an enclosed patio area with large table and plenty of chairs - ideal for BBQs. The weather was great for our week in June so we spent most of our time out the back which is a real sun trap. The house is very comfortable with 3 large nicely decorated bedrooms with one en-suite and a good sized family bathroom. There is also a cosy sitting room with TV. The house is situated in a quite part of Rosscarbery with a well kept grassy common area with picnic tables etc. in front - ideal for children. There are lots of places to walk and beautiful scenery and bird life right on your doorstep. The village is a short walk from the house with a good selection of restaurants and friendly pubs, particularly Nolans. There is a driving range with crazy golf 5 minutes drive from the house and a boating lake a short walk away. The Celtic Ross hotel nearby has a leisure centre - again great for children. There is a safe beach and pitch and putt within walking distance of the house. I would recommend a visit to the small village/harbour of Glandore which is about 20 minutes drive - there are 2 pubs overlooking the beautiful Glandore bay where you can sit outside and eat fresh seafood - and a pint of Guiness of course. Rosscarbery is well situated for exploring other parts of West Cork. The house itself and the Rosscarbery area are perfect for a family holiday - our family will definitely be back.

Liked best: Large kitchen and back patio area.
Liked least: Possibly it would be good to have Wi-Fi (although there is free Wi-Fi in the nearby Celtic Ross Hotel)

Thanks Patrick,
I am glad the family enjoyed a second visit to Serpentine Road. You have given a very good outline of what is available locally. Since your stay we have invested in a pay-as-you-go wifi dongle but the reception doesn't seem to be great. Maybe by the time you visit us again we might have something sorted with regards to internet.
Kind regards,
Noirin.

“Fantastic house in West Cork”

We recently visited Rosscarbery as a family of 4 and based ourselves in the Serpentine Road. I think there's always a bit of fear and trepidation when booking somewhere on-line which you've never actually seen before, other than a few photos on Trip Advisor. These fears were allayed about 5 seconds after we arrived! This is a brilliant property which is nicely located for the town and other local attractions. The house was spotless and nicely furnished with everything you'll ever need and we found it very comfortable with plenty of room. It's only 5 minutes walk to the centre of the town where you'll find a good shop, a really nice pub (Nolan's) and restaurants. It's also only a 5 minute walk to the Celtic Ross Hotel where we availed of their swimming pool on a few occasions. We found it an ideal location to explore West Cork. - we did a brilliant trip to Mizen Head and Crookhaven as well as Kinsale, Cobh, Cork City and some of the Michael Collins sites which are close by. Noirin was very accessible and more than happy to suggest places of interest and address any questions we had. I suppose if I was being picky, the TV could have been a bit more 'modern' (this was a complaint from the kids, not the adults) and there was no WiFi, though in fairness, there was 4G on the Vodafone network. All in all, a lovely, relaxing house which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who wanted to get away from it all for a week in West Cork.

Thanks for the lovely review folks. Glad that you enjoyed the house and the area and thanks for leaving the house in perfect condition after your stay. Tell the kids I can see their point about the television, I think it is time for an upgrade, we try to update aspects every year so this will be in the plans for 2016. Kind regards, Noirin.

“Very nice and well equipped house”
Reviewed 28 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

A lovely light house, spacious and well equipped, set in a very beautiful place. The beaches are lovely as are the people. Our only negative was that we found the beds a bit small, we are used to a bigger bed and the fire was very smokey when we lit it, other than that we had a super week. Even the weather wasn't too bad!!

Hi Sarah, thanks for your review, and for the note you left when leaving. We always appreciate when guests let us know how things went. Sorry about the fire, the chimney may need to be cleaned, more sorry I suppose that you had to light the stove at all, not the best Summer I'm afraid. The beds are standard double and single so there isn't anything we can do about that. We appreciate people who leave our house in the excellent condition you left it in and also the fact that you went to the trouble of reviewing the house. Kind regards, Noirin.
